Humanitarian Logistics Assistant

JOB TITLE: Logistics Assistant LOCATION: Beirut-based with frequent travel to the North and Bekaa Valley.   DURATION: 9 months SUPERVISSED BY: Logistics Manager   BACKGROUND:   The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today in over 40 countries, the IRC aims to restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. In response to the influx of Syrian refugees in Lebanon, the IRC is launching a multi-sectoral relief program in Lebanon.  The program will provide assistance to refugees and host communities in the North and Bekaa Valley through the delivery of protection programming for women and girls and livelihoods programming.  RESPONSIBILITIES:   Assist in managing and securing sub-offices, staff housing, and locations for in each program location Assist in procurement and distribution of supplies and materials Conduct occasional visits to oversee repair work and other services as needed Procure program and office supplies in line with IRC rules and regulations Assist in distribution coordination and manage daily workers. Assist in fleet management and planning. Other related duties as assigned   REQUIREMENTS:   Interest in humanitarian and refugee issues Secondary school degree. University degree preferred. Experience in logistics, procurement, or related field. Familiarity with procurement and rental markets in the project locations strongly desired. Languages:  Fluency in Arabic and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English required.  Proficiency in French desired, but not required. INGO experience preferred Strong ability to prioritize work under pressure, maintain attention to detail, and coordinate multiple tasks to meet deadlines.  Effective time management and organizational skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility. Energetic, with great networking and communication skills.
