Education Officer - West Bekaa

AMEL is looking for an Education Officer living in the area of Kamed el Loz, Jeb Jenine Assignment The Education Officer works under the direct supervision of the Head of AMEL Center in Kamed el Loz, the Emergency Coordinator and the Program Coordinator, in close coordination with the Social Worker, the Psychologist and the educational Team. S/he is responsible for the smooth implementation of the educational programs and all related logistical, financial and HR tasks in Kamed el Loz.   Tasks and duties   Task #1/ Support the head of center in the organization of the educational and recreational activities: -          Assess the needs and priorities of the targeted beneficiaries and define suitable activities based on participatory approach in coordination with the social workers and head of center; -          Select and recruit the required teachers and trainers;   -          Identify training modules to be provided to teachers when needed (on mediation techniques and know how pertaining to children/youth psychosocial wellbeing among others); -          Set up appropriate timetable/schedule for psycho-social support, and educational activities, study station, remedial classes, accelerated learning program for drop outs children, outings, for example; -          Assess needs for supplies and materials to conduct the activities, prepare list of requirements and allocate and arrange space for the different activities; -          Organize the transportation of the children, refreshments, procurement of school supplies and other logistical tasks; -          Follow-up attendance of children and teachers, report absences and propose appropriate measures when needed.   Task #2/ Monitoring and evaluation:  Assess the impact of the activities on children by designing and filling evaluation tools : Ÿ Create a file for each child Ÿ Evaluate school results on a regular basis Ÿ Follow-up and organize interviews with school teachers Ÿ Organize a monthly meeting with teachers and trainers   Ÿ Organize at least one general meeting per semester with all parents Assess the educational and psychosocial activities and propose corrective measures.    Task #3/ Support the organization of Social counseling: -          In coordination with the social worker, provide information and arrange social counseling for individual cases namely children and adolescents at risk (children with school difficulties, drop outs…) -          In coordination with the social worker for children, consult with parents and teachers, to identify problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions; -          Create, develop and maintain an appropriate network of schools, institutions, NGOs and relevant partners in the concerned field of activities;     Task #4/ Reporting / Meetings -      Prepare regular reports: such as monthly information sheet and other reports assigned by the Emergency Coordinator and the Program Coordinator -      Summaries on each implemented activity once achieved -      Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings; -      Participate, as requested, in workshops and coordination meetings intended to improve professional knowledge and skills relevant to assigned responsibilities.   Other duties -      Assist the Emergency Coordinator and Program coordinator in budgeting, planning, monitoring, evaluation and follow up on all educational activities of the center; -      Mobilize community support and participation in the various community based activities; -      Perform other duties as may be assigned.
