The Educational Psychologist will be part of the ECD Expert Commitee
Project Objective:
The Child Development Expert Committee will conduct technical review of existing IMC (field tested) Early Childhood Development material for caregivers with children with developmental disabilities and emotional problems, with the overall objective of standardizing a training package and producing a comprehensive training manual and user guide.
Main Project Activities:
Desk Review (by individual expert)
Expert review committee established
Technical review and revision of the training/educational material (in Arabic)
Literary review of the training/educational material (in Arabic)

Early Childhood Development Manual for children with developmental disabilities (for staff)
Early Childhood Development Guide for children (without disabilities) 0-3 and 4-6 years (for parents)
Other material developed by IMC countries, including Lebanon & Jordan.
TOR Technical Curriculum Specialists
Consists of:
Educational specialist, psychometric specialist, child psychiatrist, adult and a child psychologist with a back ground or experience of working with children with disabilities. And a demonstratable knowledge and experience of modern approaches in ECD with inclusive approaches
Basic Requirements:
Education, Training, and Experience
Education and training to the possession of a Master’s degree in child development (preferably with disabilities), child and adult psychology, psychometrics and ECD specialists. Advanced degree preferred.
Five to ten years of relevant experience of teaching and/or working in a public or private child care facility (preferably with disabilities).

excellent Arabic writing skills in the area of the child development (technical language)

ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet the deadline
strong organizational skills
ability to work independently and as part of a team;
excellent typing skills and intermediate computer skills (Microsoft Office and internet);
Knowledge of:
Child development programs principles, theories, practices, methods and techniques used in early childhood classroom instruction, curriculum frameworks, and the desired results system; classroom procedures which promote appropriate conduct and motivation for learning
Knowledge and previous experience in children play therapy, behaviour interventions, activities and games.
Child guidance principles and practices; interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy; current trends and research concerning the growth and development of children; standardized and performance based assessment practices.
Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
Demonstrable knowledge and experience in modern approaches to disability including methodologies of inclusion
Demonstrable understanding of the UNCRPD and WHO Guidelines on CBR/UNESCOs current thinking on education and disability
Skill and Ability to:
Hard-working, dedicated, self-starters.
Works collaboratively to develop/review educational and training material developed by IMC Syria for children with developmental and emotional problems.
Review principals and theories referred to or referenced to in the material and recommend compliance to standardized up to date policies in place for working with children with disabilities.
Review methods and techniques mentioned in the material and recommend improvements and compliance to standardized performance based practices.
Develop/review methods to measure pupil intellectual and social development to be added to the training and educational material, so parents and teachers can assess their performance in meeting specific goals.
Ensures that material is culturally appropriate and specific to Syrian context.
Accountabilities:
Meets all the basic requirements to be appointed as a curriculum specialist
Ensure coordination with IMC designated staff as required
Completes and submits to the IMC all material within the mentioned time line of the project.
Partakes in IMC workshops/meetings as required (if travel and accommodation are required, IMC will cover in full)
