Cultural Orientation Trainer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Resettlement Support Center Turkey & Middle East an international non-governmental organization which serves as a regional office for the US Refugee Resettlement and Cultural Orientation Program in Turkey/Middle East region. RSC ICMC Beirut conducts US Resettlement Operations in Lebanon. RSC Turkey & Middle East (RSC TUME) operates in a dynamic work environment and job descriptions/duties may change as operational needs decrease or increase.  As part of US Refugee Resettlement processing, the Cultural Orientation Program constitutes an essential phrase where refugees are given a three-day orientation to assist them in their adjustment and integration into life in the U.S.  Some areas covered during these classes include education, housing, US law, social services, employment and money management, cultural adjustment.  Each training session is tailored to a specific refugee population and its demographics.   DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES Under the overall supervision of the Head of Office & Cultural Orientation Director and the direct supervision, the Cultural Orientation Trainer will perform the following functions: Responsible for research and design of training materials and for facilitation of cultural orientation training program for U.S. bound refugees Foster co-leaning in the classroom through which students and facilitators learn from one another Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures and implement policies in accordance with US Department of State/Bureau of Population, Refugees & Migration (DOS/PRM) guidelines for United States Refugee Admission Program (USRAP) Work with CO training team on researching, designing, modifying and developing the CO materials and curriculum Manage CO caseload using Worldwide Refugee Admissions Processing System (WRAPS)  database along with other reporting services Compile reports and weekly, monthly and quarterly statistics CO sessions Develop and revise experiential learning activities aimed at the acquisition of resettlement skills Work closely with the Out-Processing Unit Supervisor and Senior Cultural Orientation Trainer to schedule and track cultural orientation related activities Take an active role in staff professional development and contribute to the overall goals of the CO Program Perform other duties or special assignments as may be assigned to ensure efficient processing and operation of the ICMC Refugee Resettlement Program Adhere to ICMC’s standard operating procedures, code of conduct, and security protocols EDUCATION: Post Secondary degree or equivalent work experience QUALIFICATIONS and KEY COMPETENCIES: Strong organizational and time management skills Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; Competency in other statistical/reporting  programming is desirable Excellent communication skills Ability to follow directions and implement policies and procedures with a positive and receptive attitude Ability to work effectively under stress and in a multicultural team Ability to maintain high performance standard with attention to detail International living experience, preferable one year in the US, is desired Previous experience in teaching/training is advantageous
