Project Manager/ Child Protection

  Project Manager – Child Protection Duty station: Amman – Jordan, with frequent travel to Lebanon Duration: 12 months, with possible extension Probation period: 3 months Starting date: 1-15 March 2012 Line manager: SCI Country Director Application deadline: 15 February 2012 Scope of role: The Project Manager will be responsible for two regional EC funded Child Protection projects, manage three staff members, implement project activities, report to Save the Children International Lebanon Country Director and maintain relation with the EC delegation in Beirut. - 30% of time will be allocated to management of a project contributing to Enhance protection of children and adolescents (10-17 years) in the MENA Region from gender based violence (early marriage, FGM and sexual abuse) through promoting their right to Sexual and Reproductive Health. - 70% of time will be for another project in partnership with UNHCR HQ and CO Jordan and Lebanon aiming to strengthening National Child Protection Systems in targeted countries ensuring access to all children. The project is strategized and implemented in the respect of cultural norms, ensuring that the best interest of the child is always the first priority and, mainstreaming the holistic feature of the Child Protection System approach. He/she will be seconded to UNHCR office in Jordan. Areas of responsibility: · Has overall responsibility of projects management and finance, keeping track of progress and ensuring that the project is on time and on budget · Is accountable for the achievement of project’s objectives · Develops monitoring plans and regularly carry out monitoring field visits · Line manages Regional Project Coordinator based in Lebanon SCI Lebanon office, Child Protection Officer seconded to UNHCR Country office in Lebanon and, Community Based Officer in Jordan · In Jordan, strengthens the national CP Coordination mechanism, supports development of a protocol on alternative care for children without appropriate care, develops and implements capacity building of IP and personnel of UNHCR Country Office to strengthen the CP continuum of care · Regionally, develops Child Protection System Standard Operation Procedures: organizes, chair and documents meetings of sounding board, best practices and cross regional learning workshops · Ensures regular communication between SC and UNHCR · Reports to the EC · Reports to senior management team Required qualifications and experience: ·University Degree in social sciences, child protection, social development, law or a related technical field · Minimum 5 years of experience in project management, both operational and financial · Clear professional expertise and current knowledge of child protection, child rights and organizational development as well as a clear understanding of how to implement the rights of the child in emergency and non-emergency settings. · Proven ability of successful networking and co-operation with various partners, especially with civil society · Senior experience in: - Child Protection and Child Protection in emergency with a focus on Community Services, Child Protection, Children without appropriate care - International Humanitarian law with a focus on children’s rights, Refugee Convention and Protocol - Developing, conducting CP trainings and building organizational capacity - Development and implementation of CP training - Staff management - Child Protection System approach, an advantage Needed skills: · Excellent writing, communications and networking skills in English and Arabic · Facilitation skills · Social competence skills, integrity and be a team-worker · Availability for travel in Middle East
