Job Title: Librarian
Reports to: School Principal
Reports to her/him: None.
Overall role:
To provide a functional and inviting library that supports school curriculum and recreational reading; to inform teachers, students, and appropriate school staff of available library resources and learning tools; and guide them to become effective users of ideas and information.
Main tasks:
- Defines the policies of the library at the beginning of the academic year.
- Selects and orders books, periodicals, audio-visual learning aids, and other printed and non-printed materials related to students' research work in collaboration with subject coordinators / academic coordinator and teachers.
- Applies electronic systems for instructional, research and management.
- Maintains a daily circulation record.
- Maintains materials and equipment by repairing damaged books, selecting books and periodicals for bindery, and discarding materials that are no longer in accordance with school rules.
- Conducts an annual inventory of books, materials, and equipment.
- Provides individual assessment in book selection as well as library enrichment, as appropriate.
- Catalogues books using the "Library Software".
- Adapts activities that are of interest to students.
- Instructs staff and students in location and use of library materials and equipment; and assists in reference searches.
- Provides periodic reports to the School principal.
- Attends meetings, workshops, and training sessions during and outside school hours.
- Performs other duties of similar nature as requested by the School Principal.
