A consultant for the Peace Pioneers project (https://www.sfcg.org/peace-pioneers/) to facilitate two activities early December 2017 (Business Luncheons) with the main objective to engage private sector and civil society representatives in Lebanon on sustainable development Goal #16 (SDG 16) focused on peacebuilding. These two luncheons are part of a process aiming to empower private sector and civil society stakeholders to collaborate and embed a common ground approach to their operations, while contributing to addressing conflicts, and take on a leadership role in promoting peacebuilding in Lebanon.
Business Luncheons Specific Objectives:
Luncheon 1 – 7 CSOs representatives working on peacebuilding efforts in Lebanon who demonstrated interest in the Peace Pioneers project will meet to (1) develop a better understanding of the SDGs, especially SDG 16 that encompasses peacebuilding work in Lebanon, and (2) generate concrete ideas on potential collaboration/partnership with the private sector to achieve the goal and foster peace in the country.
Luncheon 2 – 7 Private Sector representatives who demonstrated interest in social impact business practices will meet to (1) develop a better understanding of the SDGs, especially SDG 16 that encompasses peacebuilding work in Lebanon, and (2) generate concrete ideas on potential collaboration/partnership with civil society organizations to achieve the goal and foster peace in the country.
Each Luncheon will be systematically adapted to the level of knowledge and the needs of the participants, with the goal of facilitating new dialogue processes, developing common understanding of peacebuilding needs and specificities in Lebanon and initiating collaboration mechanisms as a first step in enhancing opportunities for partnership between peacebuilders and the private sector in Lebanon.
During the project in mention, participants might be asked to contribute to an ongoing research on how to engage private sector in peacebuilding efforts.
Your contribution
The duration of this consultancy is six days, which will include two planning days, two luncheons, and two reporting days.
Responsibilities:
● Prepare and facilitate two (2) separate business luncheons in coordination with Search for Common Ground to reach the objectives.
● Submit a report on each luncheons to assess the participants engagement and changes through the activity and their feedback/recommendations.
● Throughout the consultancy to coordinate closely with Search Project Coordinator, M&E, and Finance teams regarding the content and workshop needs.
You are…
● Knowledgeable on Sustainable Development Goals especially SDG 16 and on peacebuilding in Lebanon;
● Experienced in dealing with the private sector (executive management) on strategic thinking/planning;
● Advanced in knowledge of Corporate Social Responsibility, Shared Value, the triple bottom line, value chain and related topics;
● Speaking and writing fluently in English and Arabic is a plus. .
Selected consultant is expected to commence her/his mission on the 1st week of December 2017 .
