Male Engagement Assistant (National Contract)

Danish Refugee Council, one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, is currently looking for a highly qualified who can fit the position of Male Engagement Assistant in North (Akkar&Tripoli).

About the job

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

• Provide psycho-social and lifeskills sessions to engage with adolescent boys, men and male caregivers 

• Deliver PSS in line with global and national inter-agency SOPs and standards, provide sessions in safe spaces in adherence to inter-agency standards and set session timing in collaboration with participants; 

• Participate in outreach activities, including the ”I am Here” approach, to identify vulnerable adolescent girls, boys and their caregivers. Effectively engage with the community, caregivers and participants to ensure the meaningful participation and inclusion of most vulnerable and invisible girls and boys; 

• When needed and with their informed consent, safely identify and refer survivors of SGBV and children at risk to case management services and other available services as needed and liaise with DRC’s lawyer to ensure that men and boys survivors of SGBV or child protection violations receive legal counselling in line with the case plan also liaise with psychologist to ensure that men and boys survivors of SGBV or child protection violations receive mental health and psychological support services. 

• Plan and provide trainings on SGBV guiding principles, basic concepts and safe identification and referral of SGBV cases to community members and ROVs; 

• Coordinate closely with CP, GBV and PWSN caseworkers to ensure that individual case plans are taken into consideration for tailoring sessions to the needs of adolescent boys and caregivers; 

• Identify cases eligible for cash assistance with follow-up and support in PDM; 

• Prepare and submit weekly, monthly and 3-month work plans in a timely manner with validation from the GBV Protection Officer’s. 

•  Perform any other duties relating to the nature of the job as directed by the GBV Protection Officer and the Protection Manager.

About you

To be successful in this role we expect you to have Bachelor in Social work, Counseling, Psychology or other related field

Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required

• 1 to 2 years of experience in engaging men and boys required, experience in CP or SGBV case management is a plus 

• Ability to work on the provision of psycho-social support and life skills sessions and engage with men and adolescent boys, facilitation of trainings on SGBV guiding principles, basic concepts and safe identification and referral to people of concern and ROVs. 

• Ability to maintain confidentiality, respect, non-discrimination and safety of survivor at all times  

• Excellent knowledge of GBV, child protection and PSS basic principles, good knowledge of negative impacts of child labor and early marriage on child development and at the individual, family and community levels 

• Excellent gender and age appropriate facilitation skills, child development and adult learning techniques 

• Excellent communication and psychosocial first aid skills 

• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility 

• Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well. 

• Fluency in Arabic is a must

Desirable

• Ability to communicate and write clearly in English is a plus 

• Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel) 

• Ability to work flexible hours 

• Previous experience in international organizations and humanitarian settings is a plus.

We offer

Contract length: till the end of December 2018 (pending fund approval) 

Level:  B, equivalent to 1250$ (monthly basic salary) 

Duty Station: North (Akkar&Tripoli) 

Start date: First of January 2018
