Intro: TDH- IT is seeking a CP Trainer to support with EU- funded (‘Madad Trust Fund’) education project, ‘Back to the Future’ in consortium with AVSI (lead agency) and War Child Holland. The consortium will support formal and non-formal activities for vulnerable preschool and school aged boys and girls (over 3 years old) in Lebanon and Jordan. Activities include; school rehabilitation, remedial classes, foreign language classes, homework support and PSS activities.
Job Purpose:
With an anticipated start date of 02nd January 2018, the CP Trainer will;
- Conduct a capacity needs assessment of field-based project staff to determine their capacity gaps and needed training(s) in the area of Child Protection. Timeframe: 5 working days
- Develop a training program (short and long term capacity support) for approx. 50 staff in response to the needs assessment. Timeframe: 5 days
- Deliver the short term training program (introductory topics in CP) to the assessed staff by 31.01.2018, and hand over the longer term plan to the Project Area Manager- Timeframe: 7 days
- Write up key recommendations for further capacity support (setting key recommendations for strengthening organisational systems and processes). Timeframe: 3 days.
Overall, He/she will be responsible for building the capacity of field level staff; supporting them to plan, monitor and deliver activities for vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and deliver a training program between 02.01.2018- 31.02.2018, and assist in capacity building for staff in the following thematic areas: Child Protection, Psychosocial Support, Community Resilience, Referrals and Case Management. Ensure that all capacity building efforts incorporate a gender equity and conflict sensitivity approach.
Conduct field visits (Mount Lebanon, Jbeil-Barja-Khenchara-Qobbayaa-Kayfoun) in order to assess the capacities of field staff; to monitor implementation of activities, identify opportunities and constraints, and to inform the training program design and delivery. Assess the needs of the staff and ensure these are incorporated into the training program. A car and fuel allowance will be provided to the consultant for the consultancy period.
Ensure a strict adherence to the principles of CP at all times, including respect for confidentiality and monitor the compliance of the staff with TDH IT Child Protection Policy and report any breaches to relevant management.
Actively coach animators in the planning of recreational activities for children and monitor while the activities are being conducted.
Promptly report concerns or incidents and raise any challenge to the Area Manager.
Experience required:
Essential:
- A minimum 2 years’ experience in a program position preferably with Local or International NGOs in the field of child protection;
- Experience working with Syrian refugee communities in Lebanon is mandatory;
- Experience of building field staff’s capacities through trainings or learning by doing;
- Excellent communication, reporting, and proactive training skills;
- Ability to conceptualize, develop, plan, suggest and manage trainings;
- Strong commitment to humanitarian and child protection values;
- A very high sense of discretion and integrity when dealing with child protection cases;
- Commitment to the aims, principles and values of TDH IT;
- Substantial experience in emergency and post-crisis environments;
- Strong cross-cultural sensitivity and flexibility;
- Proved communication and negotiation skills;
- Strong commitment to support/develop capacity of local staff
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Word;
- Valid Driving license and willingness to travel in Mount Lebanon, Jbeil- Barja- Khenchara-Qobbayaa- Kayfoun;
- Previous experience of working in TDH IT in the Middle East preferred.

Salary: The applicant should submit their expected DAILY fee for the consultancy in USD $ (INCLUSIVE OF ALL TAXES AND ASSOCIATED COSTS), based on a total of 20 working days for the consultancy period
