Summary
International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) is a US-based international relief and development agency established in 1992 by the Standing Conference of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in the Americas (SCOBA). It offers emergency relief and development programs to those in need worldwide, without discrimination. IOCC has been working in Lebanon since 2001 and has more than a decade of experience in implementing community-driven programs that address a broad range of social issues, from relief to community development and education.
IOCC is looking for a Part-time Psychologist who will be responsible for planning and conducting awareness and psychosocial sessions for the Refugee and Lebanese communities in Bekaa.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Develop an awareness session plan and conduct awareness sessions for adults and children.
- Examine the role of the traumatic experience in the context of the women’s and children’s life, currently and historically, and enhance their coping mechanisms.
- Identify protection concern and provide psychological support to cases of concern.
- Make necessary and timely referrals when needed, respecting confidentiality and the beneficiary’s right.
- Hold a weekly meeting with the Program Coordinator.
- Ensure timely reporting of the activities to the Program Coordinator.
- Build the capacity of the field staff on psychological issues.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Good organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated and initiative taker.
- Good report writing skills.
- Ability to communicate with vulnerable populations.
- Advanced knowledge in psychosocial / psychological interventions
- Dynamic personality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years experience.
- Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
- Previous experience in working with women, children and vulnerable populations is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Stationed in Bekaa, with frequent visits to IOCC office.
- A car and driving license are required.
