General Practitioner (Medical Doctor)

Provides outpatient quality medical care for patients in need of Non Communicable Diseases (NCD) or Paediatric consultations according to operational needs and following adapted and updated medical knowledge, MSF protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients/beneficiaries health conditions.

Accountabilities:

• Applies medical knowledge and skills for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of patients with Non Communicable Diseases according to operational needs; ensuring  quality NCD care through basic stabilization, emergency and OPD services, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols and guidelines, or MoPH protocols.
• Applies medical knowledge and skills for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Paediatric patients according to operational needs; ensuring quality Paediatric care through basic stabilization, emergency and OPD services, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting MSF protocols and guidelines, or MoPH protocols.
• Knows and ensures all MSF medical protocols are followed and implemented,    checks universal precautions are followed at all times, reducing biohazard risks and improving infection control.
• Keeps the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, ensuring they have understood.
• Checks and control the rational prescription of medications and proper use of equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
• Participates in the registration,  collection and analysis of  medical and epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
• Participates/supports ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
• Ensures patient’s confidentiality is respected.

Context Specific Accountabilities:

• Referral of cases
  • Based on clinical diagnoses and referral criteria identifies patients with NCDs or Paediatrics in need of secondary health care and ensure timely referral, through proper communication with the Project Medical Referent.
  • Identifies patients that may need mental health care and refer patients to the psychologist
  • Identifies patients that may need PSEC (Patient Support Education and Counseling) and refers to the health promoter
• Surveillance
  • Develop a good understanding of the health conditions of the population and promptly report any concerns to the NAM or the PMR.
  • Fill the MOPH daily/weekly report of communicable diseases
• Management of daily work
  • Ensure registration of patients and record patient files, prescriptions and drug consumptions.
  • Ensure good documentation of the patient clinical findings, vital signs monitoring, investigations, referrals and treatments.
• Communication
  • Ensure good communication with line manager and technical referent to report severe complications in Paediatric (including infectious diseases patients).
  • Ensure Patient friendly behavior attitude with patients and care takers/ family members
  • Ensure teamwork spirit within the clinic staff.
• Hygiene and infection preventions control
  • Follow the universal precaution (asepsis and hygiene) and the waste management procedure (sharp waste, contaminated waste).
• Training/ Meetings
  • Attend internal (MSF) and external trainings and
  • Prepare trainings, medical cases and similar
• Additional tasks

On request, perform any other additional duties given by the immediate supervisor in order to allow the organization to function optimally.
