Information Management - Humanitarian Access Team (Re-Advertised)

The IM Officer objective is the following:

Maintain overview of network’s status and workflows involving team of researchers, and insure timely delivery of outputs from the network to feed into HAT products and analysis.

Tasks and responsibilities:

  • Management of product request system in coordination with the Research and Assessments Unit (RAU) lead
  • Draft work plans to respond to RAU and other HAT requests, and assist in research workloads in coordination with RAU lead
  • Serve as focal point for collection and organization of primary qualitative data from research network
  • Coordinate administrative, contractual, and payment tasks for researchers with appropriate Mercy Corps departments
  • Train newly hired researchers for qualitative data collection
  • Register, manage, and track the day to day activities of the research network based on coinciding projects and outputs
  • Review of qualitative data input, feedback and follow-up with researchers on data entry, questionnaire follow up and completion
  • Translation and cleaning of primary qualitative research and data points
  • Assist in corroboration of primary qualitative data through multiple sources
  • Assist in developing and maintaining templates, information management systems, and product request procedures
  • Through daily communication with the network, collect contextual qualitative data, situation updates and report incidents of concern to appropriate HAT units

IM Officer Deliverables:

The IM officer outputs are:

  • Full, comprehensive, clean, and translated sets of qualitative information
  • Consistent and updated reporting of researchers’ workflow
  • Participation in all RAU various projects and products
  • Support to other HAT units and products as requested

Background:

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Middle Eastern Studies, International Affairs,Social Studies, political studies, or relevant field. Master’s degree in a relevant field is a plus
  • Arabic as a native language
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Previous work experience in the humanitarian sector is an advantage
  • Active interest in media relations
  • Active interest in Middle East humanitarian and development issues
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
  • Solid computer skills:  must be able to work effectively and accurately with Microsoft Word, Google docs, Excel, email and internet applications 
  • Flexible work attitude: able to work productively in a team environment as well as independently
