Social Worker-Peace education program

Under the technical supervision of the Peace Building Program Manager and the supervision of the Project coordinator, the social worker will support the Peace Education project implementation through the following tasks:

 

  • Consult, assess, coordinate and implement a plan for intervention to ensure the psychological, social, and physical well-being of the refugee and host community members through confidential documentation;
  • Follow up on the cases referred by the facilitators of the peace education sessions;
  • Advise the team on the appropriate ways to respond, manage and/or refer specific cases and coordinate with them on the most effective ways to deal with the referred child during the sessions;
  • Coordinate with the facilitators to assist organising and providing individual and/or group psychosocial support sessions with the referred child;
  • Provide case management and referrals to specialized organizations and health facilities as well as legal and education service providers, according to the specific needs of individual cases;
  • Participate in capacity building training related to the area of operations and the scope of the protection programmes;
  • Provide information to service-seekers on existing social, educational and health services and how to access them within their area of residence; and
  • Manage data recording and organisation, and submit monthly reports, concerning the implemented outreach activities, case observation and identification, progress in each case, referrals, focal points meetings and related challenges.

 

Experience and Education:

  • At least one to a few years of experiences in working directly with children, psycho-social support, and/or protection case management
  • Some knowledge on sensitivities to trauma, psychological problems and socio-cultural issues that affect children, and how to deal with children with difficulties (socially, psychologically, emotionally, and physically)
  • Knowledge about and familiarity with the context of Chatila
  • Degree in (attained or in process of attaining) Psychology, Social Work, or related fields
