MISSION CONTEXT
Objectives
Under the line management of Project Officer, the Social Worker is responsible for facilitating the access to specific and basic services to the most vulnerable population affected by the Syrian crisis. The role of HI social worker will be also to accompany the partners in the process of learning and coach them, giving guidance and support.
According to the position, the Social Worker must keep all the information confidential, and share it only with the designated persons.
Line manager: Project Manager

In direct cooperation with: Physiotherapist, Social Worker TA, Partners’ SW
RESPONSIBILITIES & OBJECTIVES
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager, the Social worker main responsibilities are:
Responsibility 1: Identification of beneficiaries and eventual referral to other actors
- First identification of vulnerable people and their family, through active research or referral from community resource people, local structures and institutions, community workers, hot line or direct identification during the implementation of the activities
- Referral to PT for medical assessment or Other assistance actors if the need is other than the rehabilitation
- Once identified the need of referral to specific services, provide the Referral Focal Point with all the required information and documentation
- Updating and sharing of information related to the available assistance, including HI mobile team and partners work
- Listen carefully to beneficiaries concerns and respect the confidentiality
- Establish and maintain a wide network of local contacts to feed the referral structure and provide the most updated information to the people in need
Responsibility 2: Assessment of basic and specific needs
- Assessment of identified vulnerable patients in need of rehabilitation support. Opening of the beneficiary’s file and set up of the action plan, in collaboration with the beneficiary, his/her family and the PT.
- Assess the basic and specific needs of the beneficiaries and their families, giving particular attention to any protection concerns.
- Organize the lists of identified beneficiaries, coming from community resource people, local structures and institutions, external referrals received, hotline and direct identification
- Schedule visits at beneficiary home, according to beneficiaries’ action plan.
Responsibility 3: Partners’ training and follow up
- Train, coach and give guidance to the partners’ social worker on the case management
- Regular follow up of the partners’ social workers work and support
- Schedule regular follow up visits to the partners’ premises
- Identify possible needs for awareness raising on inclusion and disability, for partners or communities
Responsibility 4: Team organization and reporting
- Work in harmonic coordination with the team mate (a physiotherapist) and all the team members in general.
- Organize the team workload through a precise weekly plan, maintaining balance between identification, assessment and service provision, beneficiaries’ needs and partners’ follow up
- Timely inform your line manager of your weekly needs and produce the related documentation
- Complete needed internal document for internal reporting
- Ensure internal standards and guidelines are respected
- Fill daily with precision the internal reporting tools (pack benef, weekly report, donation certificate) and any other reports to be made upon line manager request
- Advocate for gaps in the program and report anything relevant to the best interest of vulnerable population
- Attend internal and external trainings when its available in coordination with the PM and the SWTA
- Participate in the internal meetings to ensure adherence to standards of appropriate case management
- Follow up with the partners
- Ask for case conference when needed by the support of the TA and the PM.
Responsibility 5: Data management
- Ensure data collected is accurate, complete, consistent and protected, in collaboration with the IM team
- Protect the confidentiality of the information
Responsibility 6: To demonstrate an ethic and professional practice
- Respect beneficiary confidentiality
- Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any no respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners
- Address needs and requests in a professional way
- Report any incident or act that causes any harm to beneficiary or to others
- Always interact with children with the presence of their parents or caregivers
- Always respect a refusal of treatment.
Responsibility 7: Demonstrate willingness to improve professional competences and abilities to increase care quality
- Demonstrate motivation at work
- Demonstrate willingness to improve own knowledge and skills by participating actively in any training sessions, capacity building activities…
- Participate in the different activities that are common to all team members
- Respect each team member’s positions, work, and specialty
- Adapt to special situations or demands from supervisor (reporting, etc)
- Demonstrate the ability to identify protection concerns
Note that this job description must remain flexible, to respond to additional tasks or changes as identified by the line manager. Reasonable specific work duties may be requested in situations that may not fit into the above job description, but will help promote the overall program goals and aims of Handicap International.
QUALIFICATION / REQUIREMENTS
Profile required
- At least Bachelor Degree in Social Sciences
- At least 2 years of experience preferably with NGOs
Professional and Personal skills:
- Good Communication skills;
- Field Work Background;
- Background with persons with disabilities.

Remuneration: according to HI salary grid
Starting date: 12/02/2018
Duration / Type of contract: 3 months – Fixed Term Contract
Others: Transportation allowance + insurance with Fidelity
