Technical Advisor - Inclusion officer

Purpose of this TOR:

Mouvement Social seeks to enhance its approach with special needs – physical and mid-intellectual disabilities - beneficiaries focusing on children and youth. The support of a technical advisor in inclusion for the team will enable MS to pursue accessibility in all its programs.

The Technical Advisor – Inclusion officer will oversee and ensure coherence within all programs of MS in order to insure that inclusive approach is spread in all components for the sake of children.

Duties and responsibilities:

Under the management of the executive director, main tasks for the technical advisor will be the following:

  • Lead and provide technical support on inclusiveness to MS team to ensure quality and effective implementation of their projects
  • Be in charge of the training and coaching of the team, building their capacities on disability and inclusive approaches and methodologies
  • Contribute to capitalization activity and process
  • Closely collaborate with the youth technical advisor, and three sector coordinators
  • Contribute in the definition/development of new proposal to ensure its inclusivity
  • Provide MS coordination team with Training of Trainers (ToT) on: disability models and disability creation process, twin track approach for inclusion, inclusion in humanitarian and development projects, accessibility
  • Oversees the special education needs assessment process of the learners
  • Oversees the organization of specialized services for children with disabilities
  • Monitors the progress of the learners with special education needs and discusses with teachers and parents; collects data and maintains records of progress and development
  • Ensures the correct reporting on disabilities in Activity Info, Child Level Monitoring Tool, and narrative reports.
  • Makes a recommendation on the pathway for the child after completion of MS course of study.
  • Provides methodological support and guidance to regular teachers on identifying special education needs and including children with disabilities in learning
  • Guides the outreach workers /social workers/educators to work with children with disabilities, families and communities
  • Oversees awareness raising and sensitization activities in MS, and in community.

Conditions of Work

The consultant will operate under the supervision of executive director and in constant cooperation with project coordinators.

The consultant will be based in Beirut office, in Badaro area. She/he will be required to conduct travel in areas of MS centers when needed.

Qualifications

  • University degree in social studies, education,
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in inclusiveness
  • Experience in working in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Excellent understanding of Lebanon ecosystem
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • High-level drafting and communication capacity in English and Arabic
