Hygiene Promotion Officer

Action Against Hunger is looking for WaSH Hygiene Promoter Officer based in Bekaa.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Hygiene Promotion Field Supervisor, the Hygiene Promotion Field Officer participates in hygiene campaigns, door to door hygiene promotion. S/he prepares written material and clear and adapted messages for the beneficiaries. S/he distributes hygiene items and is able to prepare hygiene promotion plans. The Hygiene Promotion Field Officer may support other WaSH activities as well. 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Bachelor in Public Health, Social sciences, Education or related fields

Strong communication skills, used to speak in front of an audience and able to work dynamically with children and adults

Experience in hygiene promotion

Work experience with local communities, children and vulnerable people

Experience in community mobilization and participation

Initiative

Availability/ Capacity to learn

Ability to work under pressure and in a multi-cultural environment

Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skill and diplomacy

Rigorous and organized

Gender Sensitive

Fluent in Arabic and excellent English 

Computer skills : Microsoft Office, especially Excel

DETAILED OBJECTIVES AND TASKS

Objective 1 : Elaboration of hygiene promotion material

Identify the most appropriate message regarding the target population ** Write clearly and understandable message ** Evaluate the necessary material needed for a campaign/activity ** Identify problems and provide sustainable changes of WASH Knowledge, Aptitudes and Practices to the local communities

Objective 2 : House to house visits and hygiene campaigns

Mobilize the community to change behavior regarding hygiene practice. Creation and follow up WASH Committees and their performance in the Informal Settlements ** Convince all household of the importance of good hygiene practice ** Ensure the work is properly done and the material use wisely ** Participate in hygiene campaign, doing shows in schools and at community level ** Animate focus group, giving clear message on good hygiene practices

Objective 3 : Reporting

Report the progress of the work to the supervisor ** Report possible problem or conflict during the activities ** Report the use of materials and possible improvement ** Data collection regarding the project and potential beneficiaries ** Regular reporting to Hygiene Promotion Supervisor      

Objective 4: Other water and sanitation activities

Conduct household assessments ** Distribution of water and sanitation items ** Support other WaSH related activities

Objective 5: Security

Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan, see to it that the team under his/her responsibility complies with the security plan and perform the security management tasks that can be assigned in its protocols.

Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or noncompliance with the security plan. 

Objective 6: Support the humanitarian activities of Action Against Hunger

 Support the emergency interventions of the organization as per the employee’s abilities.

 Support any activity that helps reaching our humanitarian goals, as per the employee’s abilities.

 Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work
