COMMUNICATIONS SPECIALIST

Project Background

The Lebanon Enterprise Development (LED) is a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) with a goal to increase employment opportunities for Lebanese citizens. Due to multiple challenges, Lebanon’s private sector is lagging in creating economic opportunities and jobs. LED will identify binding constraints preventing businesses from increasing sales or reaching new buyers/customers and will provide customized technical assistance to enable Lebanese enterprises to expand their activities, increase sales and create jobs. Over time, LED will also prioritize selected business enabling environment problems and work with the relevant stakeholders to analyze these issues and propose the needed solutions.

Objective of Position

The Communications Specialist will help to develop, implement, and monitor communications activities to promote project benefits, challenges, and successes. The Specialist will also help to develop, implement, and monitor advocacy plans to improve Lebanon’s business environment.

Specific Duties, Responsibilities, and Accountabilities

  • Assist in the implementation of the LED Communication and Outreach Plan
  • Develop engaging and effective communication and media materials for social and traditional media channels such as press releases, success stories, social media posts, etc.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and adapt social media campaigns and strategies to reach desired outcomes
  • Identify new opportunities and innovative practices on the use social and digital platforms
  • Monitor trends in social media tools to stay relevant with social media approach
  • Create guidance and tools to implement communications and advocacy activities
  • Draft and edit written content for internal reporting and reporting to USAID
  • Assist in organizing events, workshops, and meetings and develop related marketing materials
  • Photograph and/or video LED events and activities
  • Assist with media monitoring about LED and/or topics of interest to LED
  • Develop requests for proposal and scopes of work for communication activities
  • Ensure compliance with USAID and Chemonics regulations in all communications efforts
  • Other duties as assigned by senior leadership

Reporting:The Specialist will report directly to the Director of Communications, or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism or other relevant discipline
  • Arabic and English fluency required (with additional fluency in French preferred), with demonstrated excellent professional-level writing and editing skills in both languages
  • Minimum two years’ experience in communications, digital advertising, and social media
  • Demonstrated creativity and documented immersion in social media
  • Experience sourcing and managing content development and publishing
  • Experience effectively communicating information and ideas in written and video formats
  • Proficiency in MS Office required with graphic design and photo/video experience preferred
  • Strong organizational, multi-tasking, interpersonal, communications, and teamworking skills
  • Hardworking, energetic, willing to learn and contribute toward the LED project goal.
