Position Summary:
The Communications Assistant will work mainly on developing strong narrative and visual stories about contexts where ANERA Lebanon works and highlights the activities of its beneficiaries. S/he will be the focal person for ANERA’s media and communication activities, including writing human stories, conducting research, relevant interviews, and preparation of digital files for print reproduction and online display.
The Communications Assistant, works under the supervision of the Communication Officer. The Communications Assistant, is an integral part of ANERA’s global communications team and works closely with program staff in the Beirut and US offices to ensure comprehensive coverage of activities.
Responsibilities of the Communications Assistant:
- Ensure compliance with ANERA and donor communication guidelines and requirements
- Writes human interest stories about ANERA’s programs and activities in Lebanon
- Support in the development of creative communication material and designs
- Coordinate the production of multi-media communication material including photos, videos, and presentations.
- Act as a technical referent on video production, and graphic design
- Organize and maintain the workflow of communications activities
- Ensure proper archiving on ANERA Communication database
- Provide ad hoc support and sometimes backup (upon request) for Program Managers and the team on digital and multimedia needs.
- Assists in the development of ANERA public communications materials within the context of established guidelines and in response to the needs of the Lebanon and headquarters office
- Manage video/photo equipment
- Advise and produce multimedia content for internal communication (press releases, videos, presentation, events…)
- Communicate with and manage communication with media outlets
- Unify visual guidelines, standardize quality, and work in collaboration with the programs
- Completes any other task as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements and Qualifications
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.
Technical
- Bachelor degree in Graphic Design, Journalism or other relevant field
- Proficient in design software applications (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator etc…)
- At least One year of professional experience in media communication
- Good command of commonly used software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc..)
- Having photography, film or multimedia journalism portfolio is an asset
- Interest in social media and digital communication.
- A good judgment of ethical aspects of communication, copyright and legal aspects
- Very good written and verbal skills in both English and Arabic.
- Capacity to work with Mac environment
Work Condition:
This position is an office-based post which requires regular travel to project sites
