Wash Site Engineer

Roles and responsibilities:

Project Supervision:

  • Oversee and supervise the day-to-day construction activities carried out by the Contractor to ensure all works are implemented to satisfactory standards in compliance with design drawings, construction details and works specification.
  • Ensure works are carried out by the Contractor in a timely manner in strict adherence to the agreed programme of works, as per plan and specification, and in a manner that is best practice in civil engineering.
  • Ensure all works are carried out by the Contractor in a safe environment in strict compliance with Health and Safety requirements in the work-place.
  • Ensure close coordination with the stakeholders/community on daily activities to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Ensures all activities are carried out by the contractor to a high quality standard and on time in accordance with the approved plans, specifications and work schedule.
  • Closely coordinate with the stakeholders/community on daily activities to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Facilitate meetings between the contractor and other stakeholders in the project.
  • Maintain records of all communications with contractor, stakeholders and Concern through daily documentation and record-keeping.
  • Report to the WASH Team leader daily on the activities, highlighting challenges/problems encounter on site.
  • Ensure the instructions and direction of the Team Leader in relation to the construction is clearly communicated to stakeholders on-site.
  • Update construction schedule based on the actual accomplishment to monitor timeliness on a weekly basis
  • Prepare and submit weekly accomplishment reports with working drawings indicating accomplishments  to monitor progress

 

Duties:

The Site Engineer will:

  • Ensure proper setting off and markings prior to execution and ensure correctness of invert levels.
  • Prepare detailed daily report of all site activity under the Team Leader. Reports will include (a) work progress, (b) work quality, (c) challenges and problems, (d) relevant photos.
  • Provide weekly updates of the Contractor’s progress, highlighting actual vs projected progress, to facilitate monitoring timeliness.
  • Conduct topographic surveys and develop shop drawings and bill of quantities.

Representation:

  • Represent Concern at local meetings with stakeholders, contractors and other relevant actors as necessary.
  • Coordinate project activities with other actors and stakeholders in the Programme area as necessary.
  • Work with community, ensuring them a full knowledge of the on-going project, its progress and expectations.
  • Reinforce the positive professional reputation of Concern throughout implementation.

Other:

  • Adhere to the standards of conduct outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct.
  • Support and promote the standards outlined in the Programme Participant Protection Policy and Concern Code of Conduct to their team, partner and stakeholders and be committed to providing a safe working environment.
  • Do other tasks required/requested by Concern related but not limited to the Construction of Sewage Network and Waste Water Treatment Plant in Mastha Hammoud.
  • Ensure regular feedback to the Team Leader.
  • Perform all duties in a professional manner, with due and diligent respect for fellow Concern Staff members, the Contractor (and staff), the Municipality members, the community and all other stakeholders.

 

Skills, Qualifications, Experience and Attitude Required:

  • Degree in Civil Engineering preferably Master of engineering.
  • Experience in monitoring construction and managing contractors.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate and manage a diverse array of activities and stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and mediation skills and ability.
  • Strong English written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Willingness to stay on site and travel between construction sites on a daily basis.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work independently.
