Finance Officer

 

Position Overview:

With the guidance of the Operations Manager, the Finance Officer is responsible for providing effective and efficient management of UPEL’s financial resources, including aspects of budget setting and monitoring, procurement, and transactions related to staff salaries & benefits. The Finance Officer will take the lead in the day to day accounting procedures and will record all financial transactions accurately and in line with the organizations’ data management policy. The Finance Officer will also be responsible for compiling financial reports based on donor requirements. This position requires a close working relationship with Programs, Admin, and Human resources.

 

 

Major Responsibilities:

Reviewing and checking all transactions are in compliance with UPEL and donor requirements.

Preparing cash forecasts and Cash Transfer Requests for overall program keeping in view the monthly cash needs.

Field office visits to review documents and distribute payslip on monthly basis.

Under the guidance of the Operations Manager, implementation, and – if needed – further development of the UPEL Financial Manual outlining UPEL’s financial policies and procedures to enable the efficient, transparent and accountable running of the organization.

Oversee the implementation of financial policies and procedures.

Development of financial reports based on donor requirements.

Handling payroll for UPEL staff.

Processing UPEL staff’s transportation reimbursements.

Preparing/updating Grants/Budget Filing.

Following on reporting dates.

Participating in professional development activities, as needed or requested.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

3-5 years in a Accounting / Finance position preferably in an NGO

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Advanced Diploma in Accounting from recognized College/Institution

Computer literate with significant experience in excel, accounting package knowledge

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Fluency in English and Arabic

Ability to prioritize among multiple tasks and make decisions

Team player

Ability to work in a stressful environment
