Main purpose:
To examine and diagnose disorders and diseases of the patient using x-ray and ultrasound equipment in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in close collaboration with the Surgeons in order to improve patients’ health conditions.
Accountabilities:
- Provide clinically appropriate assessment, interpretation and reporting of X-ray and Ultrasound imaging following accepted professional guidelines and the MSF protocols and policies.
- Facilitate access to imaging and provide timely reporting that facilitates efficient patient flows and meets treatment objectives. Ensures reports are transcribed and validated on a continuous and timely basis.
- Work with radiology technicians and line manager to mutually agree on work schedules.
- Provide verbal advice to Radiology technicians and the medical team who contact by phone for assistance
- Attend and actively participate in clinical departmental meetings
- Advise the referrer of unexpected incidental findings identified on imaging
- Provide training and supervision of the radiology technicians and other medical staff (doctors and nurses) on the interpretation and diagnosis of certain images.
- Establish collaboration/communication with other departments in order to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
- Work with the line manager to ensure that the departmental clinical practice is consistent with national guidelines and specialty practice.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the department services. Provide regular report as prescribed of the department services to the line manager.
- Validate all imaging reports before it is sent to the requesting doctor
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
- Medical Doctor degree, specialized in Radiology
- Licensed by the Ministry of Public Health of Lebanon and registered at the Order
Experience
- Essential 2 years of working experience as a Radiologist.
- Experience in MSF or another NGO, desirable as a Radiologist, is considered an asset
Languages
- Fluency in English and Arabic is Mandatory.
