Radiologist

Main purpose:

To examine and diagnose disorders and diseases of the patient using x-ray and ultrasound equipment in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in close collaboration with the Surgeons in order to improve patients’ health conditions.

Accountabilities:

• Provide clinically appropriate assessment, interpretation and reporting of X-ray and Ultrasound imaging following accepted professional guidelines and the MSF protocols and policies.
• Facilitate access to imaging and provide timely reporting that facilitates efficient patient flows and meets treatment objectives. Ensures reports are transcribed and validated on a continuous and timely basis.
• Work with radiology technicians and line manager to mutually agree on work schedules.
• Provide verbal advice to Radiology technicians and the medical team who contact by phone for assistance
• Attend and actively participate in clinical departmental meetings
• Advise the referrer of unexpected incidental findings identified on imaging
• Provide training and supervision of the radiology technicians and other medical staff (doctors and nurses) on the interpretation and diagnosis of certain images.
• Establish collaboration/communication with other departments in order to achieve a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
• Work with the line manager to ensure that the departmental clinical practice is consistent with national guidelines and specialty practice.
• Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of the department services. Provide regular report as prescribed of the department services to the line manager.
• Validate all imaging reports before it is sent to the requesting doctor

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

• Medical Doctor degree, specialized in Radiology
• Licensed by the Ministry of Public Health of Lebanon and registered at the Order

Experience

• Essential 2 years of working experience as a Radiologist.
• Experience in MSF or another NGO, desirable as a Radiologist, is considered an asset

Languages           

• Fluency in English and Arabic is Mandatory.
