Program Field Assistant (South Lebanon)

Operation of a Counselling and Recreational Centre in the South:

  • In coordination with the PM and with the local SDC, contribute to the definition of the overall plan of action as well as to the detailed schedule of activities for the Centre
  • Liaise with local authorities, MoSA representatives, local SDC NGOs and any other national and international relevant actors in PSS in the target area;
  • Assist PM in the recruitment of the local staff/animators for the Centre;
  • Provide guidance to project team as well as assist in the coordination and monitoring of their work;
  • Contribute to the coordination of all activities, including trainings, community events, etc. ensuring that event packages are prepared and all logistics are organized;
  • Participate in the selection of community-based activities to be implemented in the area.
  • Support proper and quality monitoring of project activities;
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly report as per the requirement of the project;
  • In coordination with the PM and the SDC, establish and maintain a record system with disaggregated data on community participation and access to activities;
  • In coordination with the PM and the local SDC, establish or strengthen the existing referral system and monitor its correct application;
  • Support the Centre/SDC staff in the preparation of a sustainability plan;
  • In coordination with the PM, represent the project at the local sector working group.

Training activities

  • Participate in the design and in the implementation of a training needs assessment in the target area to facilitate the design of capacity building activities for the Centre staff and mobile/outreach team;
  • Liaise with the identified trainers and international experts, collect their needs and coordinate their necessity with the project support staff;
  • Provide all required technical assistance and support, including collection of training material, translation, etc.

Other tasks:

  • Provide administrative support whereas required for the implementation of activities in the target area (bidding, procurement, etc.);
  • Any other duty as may be assigned.

Education Degree Details
1. Bachelor’s degree in social work and relevant field experience;
2. Post-graduate studies or training in Psychosocial Support in Post-Emergency Settings (in particular the Executive Professional Masters in Psychosocial Support and Dialogue / Psychosocial Animation in War-torn Societies) are highly desirable;
3. At least 3 years of previous experiences in social work / protection activities in international humanitarian interventions, preferably in South Lebanon;
4. Previous working experience with international NGOs in management/coordination position, possibly in South Lebanon would be considered an asset;
5. Experience in working or liaising with UN Agencies, Government or civil authorities is desirable;
6. Strong organizational skills, proven ability to establish priorities and plans, and an ability to work independently, and show leadership and initiative within a team environment are necessary;
7. Experience in communicating and working with a wide range of people including people of culturally diverse backgrounds.
