GVC – Driver                                                             

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971 and working in 22 countries worldwide. It is present in Lebanon since 2006, and specifically in North Bekaa since 2012. Its projects include mainly Emergency and Development activities directed towards Lebanese and Syrian nationals.

GVC is currently recruiting personnel to cover the position of a Driver to support activities in the Bekaa valley:

Position Title:                   Driver

Reporting to:                        Logistic and Procurement Coordinator

Duty station:                        Zahle with frequent travels to other areas of Lebanon

Salary grade:                         Grade 2 – Level 2

OBJECTIVES:

The Driver will be responsible for the safe, smooth and efficient transportation of GVC staff and goods mainly between the GVC offices in Beirut, Zahle, and Al Ain, or for GVC activities in Lebanon.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily check the technical conditions of the vehicle (state of the tires, oil, fuel, brakes, etc.);
• Coordinate with the Logistic & Procurement Coordinator in Zahle for the daily schedule and tasks;
• Ensure the security of passengers in the vehicle, drive carefully, obey the speed limits and traffic rules in the country in order to avoid accidents;
• Ensure that the vehicle is always in good condition;
• Ensure that all vehicle documents and the driver’s valid driving license are in the vehicle;
• Ensure all passengers know and respect the security rules;
• Keep the vehicle’s logbook always up to date;
• Inform the line manager of any incident involving the transportation of passengers or goods.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid Driving licence for at least 5 years;
• At least 2 years of previous experience as a Driver in NGOs will be an asset.

PERSONAL AND INTER-PERSONAL SKILLS

• Fluency in Arabic and good level spoken English;
• Familiarity with the Central and North Bekaa area;
• High reliability, flexibility and patience;
• Professionalism, strong sense of responsibility and willingness to work long hours;
• Understanding of and commitment to humanitarian principles and values.

EMPLOYEMENT CONDITIONS

• Contract duration: 10 months with the possibility of renewal;
• Required Starting Date: Beginning of June
• Duty Station: GVC Zahle office with daily movements towards Al Ain, Beirut or other areas of interest for GVC programmes.
