Project advisor - Trainer for Peace Education

 

Description of the Program: The GIZ Civil Peace Program in Lebanon works hand in hand with civil society organizations in the fields of Conflict Transformation, Capacity Building and Dialogue. We believe that combining an outside multiparty perspective and trustful cooperation with insiders brings us forward in finding new approaches and leads us to keep asking the right questions to and with our partners.

 

A. Required qualifications, competences and experience

Qualifications

- Diploma/BA in social work or related field

Professional experience

- More than 3 years’ experience in non-formal education and conflict transformation training

- Previous experience in training of concept development is required

- Belief and value in civil peace service

- Demonstrate coaching skills experience to different backgrounds


Other knowledge, additional competences

- Strong training skills in conflict transformation, including the ability to design trainings according to the needs of the client using participatory methods.

- Excellent Organizational skills

- Ability to motivate volunteers

- Good knowledge on the Lebanese educational system (private and public)

- Must be able to moderate and facilitate groups.

- High degree of flexibility and excellent creative thinking  

- Excellent interpersonal skills, leadership skills and team spirit

- Ability to work in team and individual with minimal supervision

- Very good knowledge in writing and reading in English, Arabic and French; German is desirable

- Excellent communication skills and problem solving techniques

- Show motivation and inspiration spirit

- Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management

 

B. Major Responsibilities

The Project advisor Trainer for Peace Education:

- Develops tools and training opportunities for applied conflict transformation sessions within communities, schools and universities

- Designs, develops and implements trainings for conflict transformation

- Organizes conferences and develops outreach programs to promote innovative education methods (non-formal education)

- Builds up a pool of volunteers for the peace education component of the GIZ CPS project

- Shadows, guides, manages and monitors a pool of trainers and facilitators

 

1. Training and Awareness Raising

- Develops conflict transformation tools within educational institutions and communities

- Facilitates workshops and trainings on conflict transformation

- Prepares contracts for consultants needed to develop teaching materials

- Designs new training flows and sessions depending on target group

- Coordinates volunteers in the project work

- Assists in organizing events to raise awareness on alternative teaching methods in the field of conflict transformation and diversity management and communication

- Reviews existing materials and course books on peace education for the program

- Follows up on print-outs of educational material

- Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management / program coordinator

 

2. Support to the Civil Peace Service team

- Support DWs in adapting their tools and knowledge to the local context

- Exchanges regularly on training methods and lessons learnt with the team

- Participates actively in team meetings of the GIZ/CPS and the team

- Shares knowledge on the peace building community in Lebanon

- Supports newly arrived DWs in grasping the local context and working environment (especially the ones embedded in partner organizations)

- Sets up a library for training materials with CPS-Office

- Sets up a database for the trainer’s pool

- Sets up salary scale for the trainers and facilitators as orientation for our partner organization
