Driver

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety and well-being of staff being transported to and from the program sites and on field trips.
  • Completes a comprehensive written inspection of the vehicle weekly, reporting any conditions of concern to the Manager, or delegated staff person, before transporting staff.
  • Ensure that the communication device (e.g. two-way radio, cellular phone) is in proper working order before each trip.
  • Arranges for and ensure completion of routine maintenance of the vehicle (e.g., oil change); transporting the vehicle to and from maintenance and/or repair facilities.
  • Ensure that the vehicle always has sufficient fuel.
  • Operates vehicle in such a way that road and safety regulations are always followed; reports any traffic violations to the Manager immediately.
  • Ensure all staff are in appropriate safety restraints at all times during transportation.
  • Follows safe vehicle loading and unloading procedures.
  • Keeps the vehicle clean and free of debris; follows other vehicle cleaning procedures.
  • Routinely inventories vehicle emergency and first aid supplies and equipment, reports needs to the Manager, or delegated staff person.
  • In case of accidents/emergencies, evacuates staff according to written and practiced procedures.
  • In the event of an accident, assures that medical emergency procedures are followed; completes a written accident report as required by delegate's procedure and other authorities.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

High School, Good in English 

 

Experience

  • Lebanese driving license for at least 2 years.
  • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
  • Basic mechanical skills
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience in short and long distance routes.
  • Basic safety skills

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Commitment to Medical Teams International mission statement.
  • Must be able to exercise considerable initiative.
  • Ability to work well in a team and under pressure and in response to changing needs.
  • Ability to plan well, set own targets and meet them.
  • Ability to deal with difficult, often frustrating work situations
  • High degree of responsibility, initiative, emotional stability, the ability to prioritize a heavy workload and to delegate accordingly, culturally sensitive
  • Professional attitude and the ability to build successful working relationships
  • Experience in and knowledge of Syria situation and response is considered a strong asset.
