Livelihoods Assistant (National Contract)

About the job 

The Livelihoods Assistant will be based in Bekaa as a member of the Livelihoods department. S/he will report to the Area Livelihoods Manager and will play a key role in implementing the Food for Training (FFT project in Bekaa. S/he will work to ensure that the Livelihood interventions are implemented with the highest technical quality, activities and reporting are completed on time, challenges are identified proactively, and solutions provided in a feasible manner. 

 Your main duties and responsibilities will be: 

• Assist in conducting outreach to identify and assess affected population deemed eligible to participate in the program. 

• Organize trainings as needed, including identifying venues, inviting participants, and assisting with developing the agenda. 

• In coordination with the Livelihoods Officer and other key stakeholders (including external trainers), carry out trainings on key issues and topics, including (but not limited to): agriculture, concrete carpentry/construction, soil management, life skills, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, etc. 

• Work closely with staff from DRC’s Protection sector (and other DRC teams as needed) to ensure timely completion of integrated components of the project and created assets. And work with DRC staff and external trainers on the implementation of  the food for trainings (FFT) and complementary trainings to Food for Asset (FFA) projects 

• Assist with monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on project activities, as well as reporting issues and constraints arising from project implementation, as requested by the Livelihoods Officer or Area Livelihoods Manager. 

• Assist in conducting market assessment of the areas of intervention and determining program intervention priorities based on needs and existing resources. 

• Supervise the recruited trainers and monitor the field implementation of the Food for Training and complementary trainings and compete the daily attendance of participants and trainers as well as monitoring their working hours. 

• Work with operational staff and Livelihoods Officer to complete order requests and payment requests, as needed. 

• Assist the Livelihood Officer during site and municipality visits and maintain good professional relationships and coordination with local stakeholders and authorities and assist the Livelihoods Officer in the monthly reporting dues and lists of participants.

About you 

To be successful in this role we expect you to have A Secondary School Diploma or Fresh University Graduate preferably with a degree related to international development, economics, and/or business, or another related field. Moreover, we also expect the following:

Required  

• 1 year of minimum experience in the humanitarian setting, preferably in Livelihoods, or related sectors, which would include experience with one or more of the following activities: 

o Implementation of skills development and employability trainings or value chain programs 

o Community mobilization and empowerment 

o Training planning and facilitation for staff and community groups

Desirable 

• Familiarity with the agriculture sector. 1-2 years of experience preferred 

• Previous experience with INGOs is highly desirable

We offer 

  • Contract length: 6 months until November 2018 (the advertised positions is pending upon donor funding approval) 
  • Level:  B1, Monthly Basic Salary USD 1250.  
  • Duty Station: Bekaa 
  • Start date: June 2018
