German/English writer and editor

Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Beirut Office

The Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung (RLS) is a German political foundation affiliated with the German party “Die Linke” (The Left Party). RLS is a provider of civic education and a center for progressive social research (www.rosalux.de). Since May 2017, RLS has opened its office in Beirut.

The Beirut Office is looking for a part-time writer and editor to support the publishing of texts, articles and pictures in German and English.

Time frame: 6 months

Starting Date: 01.07.2018

Main tasks and responsibilities:

• Choose topics to be written on and articles published within the website (in close cooperation with the responsible project manager)
• Select writers/journalists to research and write on certain topics
• Communicate effectively with writers and fulfil project deadlines
• Edit documents to ensure quality, adjusting the style as necessary, ensuring consistency in narrative text, footnotes and tables (in German and English)
• Coordinate with translators
• Coordinate closely with the Arabic and English editor as well as the web designer

Requirements of the applicant

• Bachelor Degree in social sciences or humanities
• Experience in editing, journalism, writing
• Good analytical and factual understanding of political scene and developments Lebanon and in the MENA region
• Experience in project coordination and management
• Sharing the understandings and values of RLS
• Fluency in written German and English
• This is a remote, work-from-home position
