Community Center Manager

With the help of funding partner Help Refugees, we are looking for a local staff member to run our Community Center in Saadnayel, make a tangible impact, and ensure better cooperation with local partners, donors, and institutions in Lebanon. Our Community Center houses many of Salam’s projects, with a focus on teaching basic numeracy, literacy and livelihood skills. The center also offers community-based empowerment programs, as well as psychosocial support programs for both children and adults.

 

Job Description and Responsibilities

 

  • Ensure the smooth running of the Community Center
  • Contact and liaise with stakeholders and potential partners to ensure coordination and proper referral mechanisms
  • Monitor and assess activities currently running
  • Establish and maintain an enrollment/assessment process
  • Coordinate staff working at the center and when needed refer any issues up to the management chain
  • Compile the weekly reports to be sent to the program officer
  • Host monthly meetings with the local committee for the community center
  • Maintain inventory lists and liaise with the logistics officer for necessary procurement
  • Manage, monitor and track expenses according to the budget and report financial plans to the accountant
  • Lead the HR procedure for new community center staff
  • Compose proposals for new center projects and activities
  • Support educational classes and awareness sessions
  • Ensure all forms and documentation are securely filed, adhering to data protection regulations
  • Enhance current and develop future SOP’s and procedures to create better efficiency and communication with ground operations
  • Handle any issues discreetly and confidentially as they arise to create a positive environment and dynamic amongst the volunteers
  • Ensure health and safety standards are adhered to at all times
  • Adhere to all Salam policies and procedures

 

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Minimum of 3 years work experience in the areas of program development, project management, donor reporting and grant compliance; experience in managing community centers is a plus
  • Good reporting skills
  • Good skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Fluent in English (Written and Verbal)
  • An interest in the Syrian refugee crisis and assisting vulnerable populations
