GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.
GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of 1 Data Analyst Assistant to support activities in Bekaa.
Position Title: Data Analyst Assistant
Reporting to: Data Analyst Officer
Duty station: Zahle office
Salary grade: G3/L2
Responsible for:
- The Data Analyst Assistant will be supporting the Data Analyst Officer in the management, use and development of all data within the databases used for Humanitarian Advocacy and Analysis within the humanitarian programmes of GVC.
- He / She will support in insuring data consistency and tailored analyses in line with set objectives and the guidance of the Data Analyst Officer.
- This position reports to the Data Analyst Officer. The DA Assistant is based in Ain/Baalbek.
- The DA Assistant will be working within the Information Management Department.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The CPA is a methodology which comprises a context-specific process of multi-sectorial assessment and right-based analysis to determine immediate patterns of risks and analyze the degree of the population’s resilience against such risks. Throughout this, local protection strategies are elaborated and designed to increase the capacities and empower the communities and individuals, reduce exposure to harm and develop local strategies to increase protection from the impeded access to safe and dignified life.
Assist the Data Analyst in ensuring that the data within the Protection Dashboard is timely and properly processed and analyzed in line with the objectives set by the PDAS.
Working with each key team of GVC (WASH, IMS, Protection and Management), ensure the information needs are identified and collected ensuring quality standards and methodologically relevant data collection techniques.
1. Insure properly processed data and timely analysis
- Assist in designing and developing quantitative and qualitative analysis and processing tools and systems (R software) to streamline data mining, cleaning, munging, analysis and visualization of the Protection Vulnerability Index.
- Support the DA Officer with the Information Management Department on integrating PVI Data Analysis in the Protection Platform validating it from a Data Analysis perspective (i.e. information within the platform is accurate, relevant data analysis and visualization are performed correctly, etc.).
- Support in providing day-to-day quantitative analysis of data uploaded to the platform and constant backstopping with IMC.
- Support the DA Officer in elaborating qualitative analysis and specifically in insuring the proper data filling to insure the use of software for qualitative analysis.
- Support in data crunching of GVC existing old databases and all existing and accessible datasets in Lebanon, to extract occurrences to confront and validate PVI and Protection Dashboard data analysis.
- Support in constantly triangulate data within the PVI by maintaining technical contact with field staff as agreed with the DA Officer
- Support in ensuring the proper systematization of tools and all relevant documentation of the PVI and Protection Dashboard for easy access to the Lebanon Mission and the Protection Task Force staff.
2. Information needs are identified and collected ensuring quality standards and methodologically relevant data collection techniques
- Work with each key team of GVC (WASH, IMS, Protection and Management) to identify, extract and formalize the information they need from the existing data
- Provide support upon request on the designing of data collection tools and databases related to the different processes and areas of the PVI/CPA methodology
- Support on the design and planning of an IT platform (ONA/ODK) for the management of Electronic data capture tools
- Support in analysing and insuring that GVC field team employs the standard and methodologically relevant data collection techniques and tools
- Under the supervision of the DA Officer, perform on spot visits to check data collection and field presence, when necessary, to insure quality of data collected and that the data analysis reflects the real situation in the affected communities.
3. Substantiating relevant information in close collaboration with the Data Analyst Officer
- Maintain constant and systematic update of statistics for regular information sharing with the field and management teams.
- Support the DA Officer in the elaboration of reports, outputs of analysis, infographics, trend analyses and any other relevant output.
- Support the DA Officer in preparing lesson learned and share it with team in short trainings and/or briefings in order to improve data collection and first drafting of analysis by field staff.
Staff management:
- The DA Officer will be the line manager of the DA Assistant, which includes the set up and follow up of reporting and HR decisions, such as approving leaves and organizing appraisal.
Others:
- Any other request in the line of duties by the PVI and Data Analysis Specialist
Support to data analysis not related to PVI/CPA of other GVC Missions in the Middle East, under the coordination of the Protection Task Force.
