forumZFD provides training and project support in Germany and abroad. With its members, it advocates the renunciation of violence-based policies, reinforcement of civilian resources in the state and society and democratic participation of all social, ethnic and religious groups.
forumZFD currently has more than 80 employees working in 14 locations in Germany, the Middle East, the Western Balkans, and South-East Asia. Twenty-five people are employed at the head office in Cologne. They organise the project work in Germany and abroad, public relations, lobby and training activities.
forumZFD has been working in Lebanon since 2009. The team consisting of 15 staff members develops projects in the programme areas of Dealing with the Past and Capacity Development. forumZFD in Lebanon with its partners also co-facilitates dialogue and joint projects between Lebanese host communities and Syrian refugees, thus reducing through Community Mobilising tensions and violent outbreaks of conflicts.
Tasks and responsibilities
As Project Coordinator in the project "Future Together Now 2", you will support the Project Manager and the team to contribute to the development and implementaton of the “Future together Now project 2 project as part of the forumZFD programme in Lebanon, and the programme area Community Mobilising. You will be working in an international team of 5 and with 5 local partners. Within this project you will contribute to reducing tensions between communities, including Syrian refugee and Lebanese host communities. . You support network and exchange of knowledge within the team and with other actors in the field, first and foremost with the local partner organisations.
Specific tasks within the project work
- Support for the Project Manager in documentation, knowledge management, and administrative tasks, including reporting and PME.
- Support the Field Coordinators (mentors) working with our partners trained within the "Future Together Now 2" project,
- Contribute to the development of the project concept, its training and mentoring measures on conflict transformation, and Community Mobilising.
- Support and follow up of partner visits to the project locations for support in the mentoring team and the general implementation of the project (incl. a willingness to undertake trips to different regions of Lebanon);
- Preparing workshops with the FTN2 team for partners and trainees;
- Support participatory processes within the team and with partners;
- Involvement in conflict-sensitive project planning, implementation of forumZFD’s internal monitoring system and reporting processes (PME);
- Development of structures and networks to safeguard the project’s sustainability;
- Support the administrative/financial side of project implementation and to reporting;
- Translation of project documents and also during meetings;
Your profile
- Advanced university degree;
- Several years’ experience in development cooperation, community work or in conflict transformation;
- profound knowledge of the political situation and substantial work experience in and with NGOs;
- Knowledge of methods of nonviolent / civil conflict resolution, especially in dialogue;
- Open-minded to systemic approaches;
- Distinct ability to think structurally, and strategically;
- Strong intercultural sensitivity and the ability to work in a team
- Strong ability to work under time pressure;
- Very good written and spoken command of English and Arabic;
- Competency in using IT applications,
- Driving licence and driving experience.
