Job Purpose
International Alert is seeking a content, text, and language editor for its Justice and Livelihood Opportunities project in Central and North Bekaa, and Akkar. The consultant will work on editing Alert and its partners’ case-study research that focuses on the protection and livelihood rights of Syrian refugees and vulnerable host community members working informally in the Food & Beverage (F&B) sector in Central Bekaa, Minye, and Akkar.
Alert, in collaboration with its partners – the Lebanese Observatory for Workers and Employees’ Rights (LOWER) and the Human Rights Legal Clinic (HRLC) – developed an extensive case-study research that requires editing in preparation for translation and printing.
The consultant will work on the following:
- Provide content, text, and language editing to the 58-page study to develop and draft a 30-page executive summary of the study’s major and main findings.
- Work with Alert’s Senior Communications and Advocacy Officer on the language and terminology of the edited text.
- Able to deliver product/deliverable in 3 weeks.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Edit and Copy-writing
- Provide content, text, and language editing to the Alert English-language 58-page publication.
- Develop and draft a 30-page English-language executive summary of the 58-page publication, focusing on the case-study’s main findings and recommendations.
- Coordination
- To coordinate with Alert’s Senior Program Officer (SPO), Senior Comms & Advocacy Officer (SCAO), and consulting illustrator/graphic designer in preparation of the final product.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
BA or MA in English Literature, translation, copy-writing, and/or any related field from a reputable university.
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in editing and copy-writing.
Proficient in Microsoft Office package (Word, Publisher, PowerPoint).
Fluent in Arabic and English.
Excellent inter-personal, communication and presentation skills.
Able to deliver product within 3 weeks.
