In the framework of its protection and assistance mandate, the ICRC’s Water and Habitat engineer assess and address the environmental needs of victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. They plan projects to solve the problems encountered, negotiate with local authorities and firms regarding project implementation, supervise the execution of the project, and handle all aspects of their administration.
Minimum required knowledge & experience :
University degree in Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Electro-Mechanical, Hydraulic or related field)
Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a similar field
Very good knowledge of written and spoken English
Very good computer skills
Capacity to work independently and as a team worker
Good analytical and project management skills
Good knowledge of geographical assigned area (will be working among others in Palestinian camps)
Standard function description:
Contributes to the assessment and implementation of a WatHab projects mainly independently
Executes a variety of tasks that require technical skills for the implementation of WatHab programs, according to given instructions mainly independently
Maintains contacts with interlocutors/authorities at local level mainly independently
Supervises technical staff and contractors
Contributes to written reporting
Contributes to the preparation of yearly planning and budget
