Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications
- secondary school education, academic education or other training courses in the field of logistics
- holds a valid driving licence
Professional experience
- at least 5 years’ work experience as a driver with references
- no major accidents in the past 5 years
- at least 2 years’ experience in working for international cooperation agencies or companies
Other knowledge, additional competences
- knowledge of the English language
- discipline and punctuality
- resilience and patience
- familiarity with Lebanon and its regions
- willingness to work irregular hours if needed
- appropriate appearance and attire (friendly manner with all passengers)
Responsibilities
The employee is responsible for:
- safely and responsibly performing all official travel using official vehicle
- regularly servicing and looking after official GIZ-office vehicle
- taking account of all available information on road conditions, accessible routes and locations
- assists in the preparation for the official missions and visits
The position holder performs the following tasks:
Tasks
1. Vehicle, services and driving
- provides passenger transport in an official car for the office staff, official visitors and guests
- runs errands for the office, e.g. delivering letters and messages,
- provides daily information for vehicle log correctly (fuel, maintenance, oil change, spare parts, etc.)
- keeps logbook according to GIZ Rules and Regulations
- keeps the interior and exterior of the GIZ-Office vehicle(s) clean
- Full checks regarding maintenance; oil, water, brakes and brake liquid, tyre pressure, battery levels and the entire vehicle, headlights, bodywork for dents etc. regularly
- reports need for service and carries out minor repairs
- immediately reports all involvement of the project or office vehicle in accidents, including minor accidents, damage, loss or theft of vehicle fittings
- transports equipment, goods and luggage and keeps them safe at all times
- ensuring the efficient and appropriate transport and establishment of equipment for the implementation of events outside the office
2. Post, mail, courier services:
- collects and delivers mail from and to post office
- handles currier post via the German Embassy in close coordination with the responsible person in GIZ Office
- handles parcels and packages that arrives in the name of GIZ Office according to the given authorisation
Other duties/additional tasks
- assists other colleagues as needed in office if there is no travel pending, carries out other relevant office work on request of direct superior.
- Supports with all necessary logistics related to events outside the office
- records daily working hours and reports to direct superior on daily/monthly bases
