1-Introduction

“Islamic Relief believes that all children have a right to personal dignity and protection from abuse and it recognizes the special responsibility and duty of care it bears to create a safe environment for children within the projects and programs it manages and supports. The interests of child safety and protection should be paramount to any other interest which might compromise it”.

In order to offer multidisciplinary protection and social stability activities for children from host community and Syrian refugees to fulfil their needs, IRL will provide youth resolve project in South area-Saida, inside a community based rehabilitated centre, and outreach activities as well. The intervention will be managed by IR team in cooperation with local NGOs, the local community, local consultants, shelters’ leaders and children parents.

IR seeks to contract local consultant (individual/firm) to train 100 youth who will be able to play effective local in their community.

2-Background

Drama therapy is the methodical use of written, verbal, and non-verbal means of expression derived from the practices of theatre for the purposes of psychotherapy, and/or PSS counselling support. A Drama Therapist/consultant works with beneficiaries to explore roles, create narrative, embody experience, and practice social interaction for insight, behavior change, and to promote the optimal healthy functioning of individuals’ wellbeing and social interaction.

Moreover, it is an active and experiential method that provides a context for participants to set goals and solve problems, express feelings or achieve catharsis-(acquire a positive role model and coping mechanism). Inner experience can be actively explored and interpersonal relationship skills can be enhanced. Participants may expand their repertoire of roles to find that the roles they play in life are stronger and more varied.

They are simple, cost-effective way of accomplishing a wide variety of psycho-educational goals, not just in theatre class. The drama games and exercises combine elements of creative drama, improvisation, pantomime, creative movement, and storytelling. They develop foundational skills needed in theatre arts that also have tremendous positive effects on literacy development, academic success, and social interaction. The games are easy to integrate with content from other school subjects or content areas. The drama game or theatre game is a versatile teaching/educative tool that reaches multiple learning styles, content areas, age groups, and levels of language and experience.

Drama education is a powerful teaching and learning tool with profound positive effects on a student’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. The benefits of regular theatre arts instruction spill over into everyday life. Creative drama is sound pedagogy that reaches children/students of multiple intelligences and different learning styles. It is a multi-sensory mode of learning that engages mind, body, senses, and emotions to create personal connections to the material that improve comprehension and retention.

IRL experiences drama therapy as part of its PSS cycle of activities within all MH&PSS projects; and meanwhile IRL intends to integrate drama methodology in its social stability and livelihood project: “youth resolve” funded by EU as part of the training for youth over 10 months.
