Research Roles and Responsibilities
- Participate in the development of new research proposals
- Initiate grant-funded work and identify new opportunities for research funding.
- Develop new research programmes
- Lead on the various component of a research project.
- Develop quantitative and qualitative research instruments
- Conduct focus group discussions, one-to-one interviews and surveys
- Analyse qualitative and quantitative data
- Conduct literature reviews
- Collect, organize and analyse data
- Write research reports
- Present findings in academic and non-academic conferences and support in organising CLS conferences
- Write and publish academic papers in peer reviewed journals
Management Responsibilities:
The senior research is also expected to conduct the following management activities
- Supervise the implementation of assigned research projects
- Lead a research team and nurture their professional growth.
- Establish connections and strengthen CLS relations with other academic and research centres.
- Oversee, manage and coordinate a range of research projects
- Manage research associates and internships
- Assist the director in developing strategies for research projects, regional and international expansions, fundraising, communication, and organizational development
- Oversee project budgets and liaise closely with the finance department and officers.
- Ensure that all the activities and positions are in accordance with CLS values and policy guidelines
- Develop and maintain close and good collaboration with donors, partners and other stakeholders
- Carry out representation with other NGOs, UN agencies, local and national government bodies, and other relevant parties in line with CLS’s mission and values
- Liaise with partner organizations, policy makers, NGOs, regional and international organizations, and donors
- Oversee with the director the continued process of organizational development and suggest changes accordingly
- Ensure appropriate administrative, financial and logistical systems/procedures are maintained and adhered to.
Experience:
Essential
- Five to ten years of experience in conducting research in any field of social sciences.
- Writing research proposals and grant applications.
- Experience in developing, conducting and analysing focus groups and individual interviews and quantitative surveys.
- Conducting literature reviews.
- Analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
- Writing and submitting research proposals and reports and academic articles
- Managing research teams and projects
- Experience using SPSS and NVIVO software.
- Fluent in English and Arabic (reading, speaking and writing)
Preferable:
Research experience with children and/or refugees
