Communications Specialist, USAID BALADI CAP, Beirut, Lebanon

Project Summary: 

BALADI CAP is a five-year, technical assistance program funded by USAID/Lebanon that advances the institutional capacities of Lebanese civil society organizations (CSOs) and municipalities/unions to improve the delivery of services to local citizens.

Position Summary:

MSI is seeking candidates for the position of Communications Specialist. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for working with the BALADI CAP program team and its beneficiaries to highlight program impact and partner successes, and to improve communications and outreach with and between municipal authorities and CSO actors within partner communities. This position works in close cooperation with the Technical Specialists and Grants Specialists, under the direction and supervision of the Chief of Party.

Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Provide technical development, support, management, and oversight of all media-related activities implemented under the program.

Update and implement an overall and integrated program communication and outreach strategy to ensure increased visibility, public awareness and outreach, and enable the effective integration and coordination of communications across all program components.

Manage the program’s website, “chat rooms”, and knowledge management portal (KMP), as well as its various social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube accounts.

Conduct regular field visits to BALADI CAP’s partners, beneficiaries and project events to develop relevant content, photos, videos and related materials to promote on BALADI CAP’s communications platforms.

Produce a monthly program e-newsletter highlighting project activities, partners and events.

Ensure project compliance with the program branding and marking plan.

Act as a liaison between BALADI CAP and its Intermediary Support Organizations (ISOs) and their advocacy network communication specialists in coordinating the sharing of resources, content and materials on their respective communication platforms.

Work closely with technical staff and partners to develop story line ideas and related online content on program activities and achievements.

Draft, edit and disseminate written materials in professional-level English and Arabic, including success stories, newsletters, factsheets, outreach materials, and other communication products.

Act as the point of contact for all media inquiries.

Maintain the program photo gallery and update photos regularly on the website and KMP

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or a related field. 

Minimum three (3) years of demonstrated experience in generating reports, weekly updates, press releases, newsletters, and other outreach and communications materials.

Experience developing and posting content and photos on websites, social media and related communications platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Chat Rooms, etc.

Experience with graphic design software and website design highly preferred.

Written and oral fluency in Arabic and English.

USAID experience preferred.
