Programme Officer / Agricultural Engineer - Deadline Extension

Responsibilities and duties

  1. Conducts technical, needs assessments and gap analysis to include to the programme the most vulnerable communities.
  2. Designs activities in compliance to the Plan of Operation and the agricultural strategy in the area of intervention in cooperation with the local authorities in order to improve and monitor the cooperatives production and management.
  3. Assists the field office in curriculum development and materials consolidation for beneficiary inclusion in the most transparent and fair selection process.
  4. Supports the project coordinator in providing adequate assistance and trainings to the cooperatives (in marketing, quality standards, agro-production practices, seedlings production, post-harvest management etc.).
  5. Visits the sites to observe the progress of works, monitors the activities and assists in solving problems in the field.
  6. Supports defining in-kind assistance’s technical specification in cooperation with the project coordinator and procurement officer.
  7. Assists the field office in cooperation with experts and consultants in assessing the impact of agricultural production in the area of intervention.
  8. Provides advice on water quality and pollution management-related issues, river control, ground and surface water resources.
  9. Submits reports and adequate project documentation to the project coordinator and works closely with the team to ensure that tasks and strategy implementation are carried out in accordance with required policies and regulations.
  10. Provides lessons learnt from the field and suggests improvements regarding the implementation of the assistance programme.
     

Qualifications and requirements
 

  • Master Degree in Agricultural Engineering
  • Knowledge in cooperatives development
  • Good experience in networking, partnership and advocacy
  • Professional in project analyses, action plans development and tasks distribution
  • Commitment to the work policies and readiness to respond to the project urgent needs
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Very Good written and spoken English and Arabic
  • National Staff Position (only Lebanese citizens are eligible to apply)
  • Three years of relevant job experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Valid driving license
