TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Water quality analysis
- Define the water analysis Standard Operational Procedures (SOP), location, sampling, statistics, etc.
- Collaborate with the Activity Manager in defining the strategy of maintaining a satisfying water quality;
- Follow the implementation of such strategies in our areas of intervention;
- Complete analysis of water samples according to the water analysis strategy approved by his/her line managers ;
- Fill the water analysis results sheets and communicate them to the MEAL Supervisor;
- Organise and plan the sampling of water from water points;
- Support the WASH team to implement training for water quality and free residual chlorine test on the field;
- Identify problems during implementation and suggest improvements on process, which includes regular visits to field sites to provide technical support to assigned field team and organize training if needed.
- Plan the weekly activities and have them approved by his/her Project Manager:
- Plan human resources needs (daily workers, workers...)
- plan tool and material needs for water analysis (lab material, equipment, etc…) (request from stock or from logistics department) upon validation of WASH PM
- anticipate administrative issues (requests in advance)
- Anticipate logistics issues (transport, communication means...)
- Secure the material of water analysis activities on a daily bases
- Ensure that the materials and tools are stored in appropriate place and manner
- Ensure the maintenance and the proper operating of all SI material related to water analysis
- Ensure the material is properly used by field teams and organise training if needed
- Manage the stock of chemicals & materials under the supervision of his/her direct supervisor
- Enforce safety procedures
- Respect schedules and deadlines agreed upon with his/her Program Manager
Health referral
- Implement a monitoring on cases of waterborne disease in collaboration with Field Staff;
- Responsible for the definition of water analysis Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) related health referrals;
- Implement alert system and referral in collaboration with the Hotline Officer;
Reporting / communication / representation
- Represent SI at the HCR working group about water quality
- Report back to his/her line Manager before, any additional information related to WASH related activities or any event that may affect Solidarités International activities and security.
- Draw up and submit a weekly task report to his/her program manager
- Take part in the drafting of the monthly program pack
- Work in close collaboration with the Meal Supervisor to ensure that water quality data is successfully integrated into the M&E tools.
- Produce a weekly report to managers regarding activities progress and analysis results according to formats
- Coordinate with field representatives in accordance with management guidelines.
- Coordinate with support staff (logistic and administration) + all WASH staff involved on the program.
