Fashion Designer

Job Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Project Manager and the Education Officer, the Fashion Designer will be responsible for initiating the teaching and learning process with a focus on continuous improvement: creating an environment in which students can accomplish the learning competencies of the course of instruction; maintaining, updating, designing and developing new curriculum. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare, update, design and/or develop new curriculum according to the levels of the students.
  • Oversee the implementation of the curriculum by monitoring and advising learners.
  • Coach, supervise and train the Sewing Instructors in delivering curriculum. 
  • Produce new concepts using online sources.
  • Teach sketches by hand or on computers.
  • Oversee production and quality of work and assess the Sewing Instructors permanently.
  • Prepare orders of course materials according to the need.
  • Support and assist the procurement officer in buying the course materials.
  • Coordinate with any other fashion entrepreneurs that Kayany foundation is working with.
  • Create a positive learning environment.
  • Evaluate midterm and final tests and ensure their credibility.
  • Attend departmental meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
• A technical degree or any other related certificate
• Minimum of 5 years full time work experience in the field with a rich and elegant portfolio.
• Ability to work collaboratively and motivated independently
• Ability to use online resources to support the management and delivery of instruction
• Ability to operate personal computer, audio visual equipment and other office equipment
• Flexibility with work related activities not occurring during scheduled course hours
• Knowledge of soft skills required for workplace readiness
