Center Coordinator Assistant

Youth for Tomorrow” Project, implemented by Akkarouna with support from Mercy Corps (MC), focuses on helping host and refugee community adolescents, in targeted areas in Tripoli to cope with numerous stresses. The decisions they make now will have a profound long-term impact on their lives; thus it is essential to equip adolescents with the tools to make sound judgment in order to have a healthy and productive future. “Youth for tomorrow” aims to achieve the following:

  • Adolescents and youth have improved psychosocial and emotional wellbeing.
  • Adolescents and youth are better prepared to enter the workforce with enhanced technical skills and improved awareness of labour market realities
  • Diverse groups build positive inter-community relationships by working together to promote protection and interests of adolescents and youth.
  • Civil Society has increased capacity to serve the needs of youth.

The role of the Akkarouna Youth for Tomorrow Project Coordinator Assistant is mainly to:

General responsibilities

  • Provide general support to the Center Coordinator in all management and admin tasks; especially to ensure that the Standard operating procedures agreed between Akkarouna and MC are applied.
  • Assist in planning and organizing all program activities with direct support of the center coordinator;
  • Provide support in building specialized referral network for Youth for tomorrow that includes services and agencies related to its objectives;
  • Oversee community needs assessment and community projects planning;
  • Assist in setting center schedule;
  • Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports;
  • Evaluate constantly the quality of the services provided in the community center by conducting evaluation exercises with beneficiaries, trainers, center staff and establish a proper complaints mechanism;
  • Set the daily/weekly/monthly work plan, in coordination with the Center Coordinator;
  • Develop a capacity building plan for the center coaches and staff & ensure its implementation;
  • Provide constant feedback to center coordinator and program manager on progress, lessons learnt, achievements, gaps, issues and problems;  
  • Ensure that all incidents reports are filled and sent to Akkarouna and MC, also the assistant coordinator will be the focal point to mitigate all security related issues alongside with the center coordinator
  • To replace the center coordinator in case of absence, meetings, coordination, etc….
  • Work alongside the education assistant for ensure proper implementation of the curricula for the courses
  • Follow up on coaches for their daily tasks concerning the logistics, data filling, procurement, education, etc…
  • Ability to train coaches and other stakeholder
  • Mentor the coaches and the youth to manage to social media concerning the center activities
  • Any other related tasks as needed

 

 

 

 

 

Reporting

  • Assist in organizing and ensuring a timely, proper written weekly reporting and report daily if needed on problems faced;
  • Support in preparing the weekly report for his/her sector of responsibility;
  • Support in preparing the monthly report for his/her sector of responsibility;

Qualifications & Experience:

  • University degree; preferably related to social work
  • Minimum 2 years of  relevant work experience
  • Experience in managing community centers and development projects or community mobilization
  • Experience in emergency work is a plus
  • Fair, honest, has strong communication skills, and results-oriented.

Mercy Corps has joined the No Lost Generation campaign to mitigate the devastating impact of the Syria crisis on children and young people for Lebanese, Palestinian and Syrian in host and refugee communities. In order to prevent alarming long-term consequences of an entire generation, Mercy Corps’ programming aims to nurture the intellectual and emotional growth of adolescents during this pivotal time in their life to become resilient to the deteriorating economic and political conditions around them. 

Akkarouna is one of the local active organizations that was established in 2010; that fights local poverty and try to raise moral, behavioral and environmental awareness and shedding light on natural and human resources. It also seeks to involve youth in various types of activities.

Akkarouna aims at enhancing the role of the youth and adults in public life without discrimination in the community. In fact, it ensures their involvement in various types of activities and programs to keep them away from delinquency and the tendency of violence. The association works on raising the moral, behavioral and environmental awareness; thus, uniting communities together to grow stronger towards the same objectives and erasing ignorance. It also works on fighting local poverty to decrease the gaps and in equalities between all the communal levels. Hence, it works on developing the quality and standards of the society.
