The Adobe Illustrator and Trainer will be responsible for creating a sample infographic for DRCs’ Information Management System list of icons/symbols used in humanitarian activities. He/She will also train relevant DRC staff on how to create info-graphics, and design report templates using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign. Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
Creation of:
• Sample info-graphic for DRCs’ Information Management System
• Sample report using InDesign
• Icons in humanitarian assessments especially Monitoring and Evaluation assessments.
Introduction to Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
• Tool box
• Navigation
• Creating a new document
Illustrator and InDesign Basics
• Working with Colors and Patterns
• Fill, Stroke, Gradients and Color
• Determine size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type and layout.
• Working with Colors
• Create a design (examples)
• Pattern Fills
• Create, select, and transform shapes (Grouping, rotate, scale)
• Combine shapes and paths
• Use the drawing tools
• Use color ton enhance designs
• Add and edit text
• Work with layers (vectors), gradients, and patterns
• Use brushes
• Use effects and graphic styles
Mastering Illustrator and InDesign Workflows and Functions
• Designing flyers, posters, snapshots, brochures, catalogs, and logos
• Editing enhancing vector shapes (Vector Maps)
• Designing user-friendly fancy, descriptive infographics that highlight messages to donors and stakeholder.
• Creating / designing standardized and fancy report layout
• Perform digital illustrations
• Mark up, paste, and assemble final layouts.
• Printing, Saving, and Exporting in Illustrator and InDesign
About you
To be successful in this role we expect you to have a Bachelor degree or Diploma backed up by a strong portfolio in Graphic Design; Media and communication; Fine Arts or related field Moreover, we also expect the following:
Required
• 5+ years’ experience of strong practical background in graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Q/ArcGIS , Adobe Creative Suite.
• Knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets, including infographics/factographs /Snapshots (for print and digital), data visualization, gif animation and interactive presentations.
• Ability to provide examples of work undertaken.
• Good understanding of new and evolving technologies and digital platforms.
• Previous training and capacity building experience.
• Knowledge of designing and enhancing GIS mapping vector products in AI.
• Arabic – Advance fluency level
• English – Advance Fluency level
Desirable
• Experience in working for the UN, and International NGOs is a plus.
