IT/Sports/Crafts/Arts Primary/Elementary Teacher

Main Responsibilities:

  • Teach knowledge and skills in art, including drawing, painting, lettering, and art history,
  • Provide instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about art
  • Demonstrate techniques in activities such as drawing and painting
  • Understand a variety of “masters” techniques
  • Knows and can apply elements of design and modern principles of art
  • Knows the fundamentals and different approaches to drawing media technique
  • Provide individual and small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
  • Instruct students in proper care and use of tools and equipment
  • Organize storage areas and control use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize time required for distribution and collection
  • Evaluate each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings, and prepare progress reports
  • Select and requisition books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids, and maintain required inventory records
  • Plan and present art displays and exhibitions designed to exhibit students’ work for the school and the community
  • May sponsor exhibits from outside the school
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on pupil progress
  • Participate in curriculum and other developmental programs, such as after school art club
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by Administration
  • Be an active and supporting member of the school community to the best of your ability
  • Co-ordinate the students’ games program including extra- curricular activities when applicable
  • Promote sport as innovatively as possible, encouraging maximum participation and enthusiasm
  • To deliver PE and Games with a high regard for Health and Safety
  • Individually teach PE, Games and Sport to a variety of classes
  • Team teach PE, Games and Sport to a variety of classes from Years
  • Keep a clear record of children’s progress in accordance with school and department policy
  • Support the development of a balanced fixture list
  • Cater for exceptional performance during fixture list and during lessons
  • Ensure lessons are differentiated with Learning Outcomes
  • Liaise with the necessary parties to ensure catering and transport requirements are ordered
  • Liaise with maintenance/ground staff to ensure facilities are utilized and they are in a safe working order
  • Attend tournaments and sports tours, arranged sometimes at weekends, throughout the year in: Rugby, Football
  • Ensure all equipment is tidy and in safe working order
  • Ensure the subject area is adequately resourced
  • Utilize all activity areas (fields, pavilions, hall, pool, astros etc)
  • Create an enjoyable and productive teaching environment, through atmosphere and displays
  • Keep abreast of current coaching and teaching ideas
  • Attend staff meetings, PAA events, parents’ evenings
  • Fulfil cover duties
  • Work as part of a team, with all other members of staff, helping to promote good working relationships
  • Communicate with parents to develop and continue good relationships
  • Record any relevant communication concerning a child’s academic or social welfare
  • Communicate with parents over parent/teacher evenings
  • Be able to communicate with parents, governors, feeder/senior schools and other groups and individuals on academic matters
  • Creates lesson plans that are appropriate for the age and abilities of the students in the class.
  • Evaluates student performances in class and on tests and provides feedback
  • Assigns special projects to students
  • Communicates students’ progress to parents, particularly regarding students who need tutoring or other extra assistance
  • Provides appropriate resources and learning materials for students.
  • Identifies varying teaching methods that work best for students who learn differently
  • Develops and updates curriculum for the classroom.
  • Conducts research.
  • Encourages creativity in students
  • Maintains computer laboratories and keeps an inventory of supplies
  • Ensures that computer equipment is functioning properly
  • Maintains accurate records of students’ progress in class and on examinations
  • Keeps order in the classroom and handles student behavior issues in accordance with school system policies
  • Maintains an orderly classroom stocked with appropriate supplies
  • Stays up-to-date on changes and advancements in computer technology taught in the classroom
  • Petitions administrators for updated hardware and software for the classroom
  • Runs the classroom within the allocated budget
  • Keeps all classroom work backed up
  • Ensures that the internet in the classroom is used only for appropriate educational purposes
  • Posts grades and sends grade reports to parents as required by the school system
  • Teaches remote or online classes to adult students who cannot take part in daytime classes

• University degree in IT/arts/physical education, or equivalent professional / technical qualification
• Postgraduate degree (MA) is a plus in Education, and/or professional experience in Education in humanitarian crisis
context an asset
• At least 1 year of teaching or similar position
• Ideally at least 2 years of professional experience
• A minimum of 1 year of experience in Education programs in Lebanon
• Must have exceptional computer skills
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Must have knowledge of a wide range of computer technologies
• Must have excellent trouble shooting skills
• Have superior dexterity for keyboarding and operating a mouse
• Must have excellent critical thinking and analytical skills
• Must have strong organizational and time management skills
