We offer a post of Project Officer in the Operations Section II of the Delegation, covering the economy and local development. The successful candidate will support, under the supervision and responsibility of the relevant Head of section, core tasks in follow-up of sector policies and project implementation in the area of socio-economic development. These include basic service delivery, local governance, economic opportunities and livelihoods, private sector development. Specific project management tasks include support and advice project implementation (including monitoring, reporting and evaluation, contractual and financial management) in the sectors above mentioned. The candidate must have wide range of experience at field level and in the development context. He/she must have an excellent command of Arabic and English as well as writing and reporting skills.
Selection Criteria
Minimum Requirements:
Medically fit to perform the required duties;
Enjoys civil rights and permits for employment under local law.
Technical knowledge and Education:
Professional experience: At least three (3) years working on international cooperation projects covering the areas of local development, private sector development, livelihoods, basis service delivery, local governance;
Bachelor degree in Engineering or related technical/Scientific field, Economics, Developmental studies, Social sciences, Law;
Experience and training in project management, including contracting and financial management;
Languages: Fluent in English and Arabic. Knowledge in French language will be considered as an asset;
IT tools: Good computer skills on MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, e-mail applications and other programmes relevant for the above-mentioned tasks.
Communication and other personal skills:
The ideal candidate should be a multifaceted professional with a strong sense of responsibility, with very good communication and organisational skills;
Capacity to work in a team and able to perform under pressure;
Capacity to establish and maintain good interpersonal relations;
Ability to work effectively and independently in a multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team.
Specific experience requirements:
Knowledge of the European Union will be a highly valued asset.

The short-listed candidates will be invited to an assessment phase which includes an interview and a written test, during this phase the Selection Committee will assess the suitability of the candidates for the post.
