Response International (RI) undertook a comprehensive assessment of mental health needs within the refugee camps and larger “gatherings”. This assessment informed a series of awareness raising workshops for UNRWA managers, field staff and wider population, and identified areas of concern within existing services. This information will be used to plan, and secure the funding for, a mental health training programme for a multidisciplinary group of UNRWA health, education and social care workers, and staff from NGOs with an interest in these issues.
