CONTEXT
IECD (European Institute for Cooperation and Development) is a French non-governmental organization founded in 1988 and operating in the field of social and economic development in partnership with local institutions. IECD’s main sectors of action are vocational training and professional integration, assistance to micro and small enterprises and access to education and health for the most vulnerable. In Lebanon, IECD has been operating since 1994 and opened a regional office in Beirut in 2007.
Semeurs d’Avenir (SDA) is a Lebanese association, created in 2010, registered under the number 1905. It is the operational partner of IECD in vocational and professional training.
Since 2013, SDA and IECD work on social integration of vulnerable youth through short vocational training. Implemented at first in Tripoli and the North Region, the project expanded to 3 other regions (Mount Lebanon, Bekaa and South) since 2017.
Currently, the 2 NGOs give shorts trainings in 5 technical fields:
- Electricity
- AC maintenance
- Care for the sick and elderly
- Manucure Pedicure Waxing
- Plumbing
In order to insure economic and social integration, the short vocational training program gives priority to practical exercises and includes life skill sessions and support for the youth and women to find jobs during a year after the training.
As part of its methodology, the NGOs give trainings in the growing sectors where job creation is high and competent workers are needed. To adapt to the evolving market needs and before launching new trainings, the NGOs carry out market studies to evaluate the sectors employing youth and the needs of employers in terms of competencies.
IECD is looking for a Market Research analyst to carry out a market assessment in 4 regions (Mount Lebanon, North, South and Bekaa) on 5 identified fields to evaluate job opportunities for each one.
The successful market researcher will be able to propose a market assessment methodology, analyze autonomously qualitative and quantitative data, market trends and make recommendations based upon their findings with respect to the project’s objectives, formats and approach.
MISSION
Under the responsibility of the program manager, the Market research analyst is responsible of:
1/ Market research Plan
- Design the market assessment plan with the help of Program Manager, defining the scope, tools and methodology to be used.
- Design the survey to validate job opportunities with potential employers and with potential beneficiaries in identified fields.
- Design a benchmark to identify the most relevant trainings to launch when comparing the needs of the market and the profile and motivation of the beneficiaries.
2/ Implementation of Market Research Plan
- Conduct the appropriate methods to collect the required Data.
- Collect data and consolidate it.
- Analyze data to measure trends.
3/Reporting
- Write a report defining the methodology used, presenting the major results and giving recommendations for the implementation of the future trainings
- Present the results and recommendations
EXPECTED RESULTS
General objective: Recommendations on new trainings to implement
Deliverables:
- Collected data in soft copy from potential employers and beneficiaries
- Report of the Market Assessment including results and recommendations
- Powerpoint Presentation of the Market Assessment results and recommendations
PROFILE
Education: Higher education (bachelor or master degree)
Experience: 1 to 2 years, whether in the private, public or in a civil society organization
- Previous experience in conducting market research and data gathering.
- Working experience in similar projects on the ground in Lebanon
Skills:
- Arab language is compulsory
- Good editing skills in French or English
- Understanding and / or appeal for education and vocational training issues
- Good interpersonal communication, good presentation
- Adequate knowledge of data collection methods (polls, focus groups, surveys etc)
- Confident with MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook.
Qualities:
- Understanding of the Lebanese markets’ trends and needs
- Experience in dealing or communicating with our target audience
- Adherence to IECD values: respect of the person, always in the service of others, a professional commitment
CONDITIONS
Under the responsibility of: Program manager for short vocational trainings
Location: Multiple field visits in Beirut/Mount Lebanon, Saida/South Tripoli/North and Bekaa
Starting date: February 2019, for 8 weeks
Contract: Fixed-term consultancy contract (8 weeks contract)
Package: To be defined unpon experience
