KAFA is currently seeking a short term Research Assistant to
support a study on the needs of refugee and Lebanese women involved in
prostitution and the challenges they face in Lebanon. The study seeks to
understand how women can be adequately supported to exit prostitution should
they wish to. Through the results of the study, KAFA aims to inform the work of
government, local organizations, and international agencies focusing on SGBV in
order to more adequately support victims of prostitution and sex trafficking.
Main responsibilities
- Develop literature review from academic sources and from official and non-official reports;
- Assist in implementing interviews with target population, authorities, staff members at local and international organizations;
- Conduct all logistics and administrative tasks needed to organize one-on-one meetings and focus group discussions;
- Act as a thorough note taker, transcribe and translate (AR-EN and vice versa) interview notes and audio recordings;
- Utilize qualitative software to enter data, generate results and conduct preliminary analysis;
- Prepare preliminary analysis of research results in coordination with Lead Researchers;
- Prepare progress reports as requested;
- Lead and follow-up on all aspects of the publication, design, printing, and distribution of the research study;
- Coordinate the production of a short animated video on the main results of the study, and ensure the effective dissemination of the research results among relevant stakeholders and social media;
- Conduct logistics and administrative tasks related to the research launch event.
- Qualifications
- Excellent written and oral command of Arabic and English languages. French is a strong asset.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in conducting research.
- Previous experience in qualitative research, data entry and software tools.
- Solid understanding and knowledge of gender discourse and SGBV issues.
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team player and to cultivate team culture while also working effectively and conscientiously with supervisors.
