Data Management Officer

GVC is an Italian NGO founded in 1971. Actually is working in 22 countries worldwide. GVC presence in Lebanon dates back to the begin of Syrian Crisis and since then GVC has been implementing emergency and development projects in Bekaa and Akkar financed by International Donors mainly in WASH sector.

GVC is actually recruiting personnel to cover the position of Data Management Officer

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Data management

• Support the IM Coordinator in designing datasets and data collection tools
• Provide support to relevant staff on using IM tools and managing the data
• Support relevant staff with information management guidance and standard operating procedures following IM manager guidance

• Maintain, adapt, and update the IM tools as needed

2. Data quality control

• Regularly check datasets to avoid gaps, overlap, or duplication and follow up with relevant staff accordingly.
• Verify the accuracy, consistency and reliability of the collected data and identify issues accordingly
• Perform data cleaning and share feedback & lessons learned with the IM Coordinator accordingly
• Brief the MEAL manager on the issues identified and lessons learned and work jointly on addressing them

3. Data processing and mapping

• Surrport data analysis team on producing relevant information and statistical figures from raw data when needed
• Prepare the relevant data and perform the necessary transformation for analysis and/or producing maps as per request of MEAL manager or CMU

4. Data Collection and Follow-up
   • Monitor the quality and the timeliness of the data and follow-up accordingly.
   • Provide support to focal points and field team leaders on using the IM tools, consult with the IM Coordinator, and suggest solutions for issues
   • Perform qualtiy control testing on smart phone-based surveys and provide feedback accordingly

• Follow-up with LPC agencies’ focal points on data sharing and consolidation

5. Other
   • Translate relevant data, IM tools, and documents as needed

Fulfil any other related tasks that may be assigned by the MEAL manager.

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS REQUIRED

These are skills, knowledge, and experience that are important for effective performance.

Generic professional competencies for this position:

• Experience in managing large datasets
• Excellent experience in operating Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge in Mobile Data Collection is an asset

Education degree: BA in Management of Information System (MIS), Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Social Science or a related field.

Experience required: 3 years of relevant experience

Languages

• English: Very Good
• Arabic: Very good

Period: Until April 2019, renewable upon positive performance, and availability of funds

Salary scale: [$1600-$1700]
