MHPSS Field Officer

The ICRC delegation in Lebanon opens the position of

MHPSS Field Officer

Based in “Beirut” with frequent field visits to the North and Beqaa.

Responsibilities:

  • Alongside the MHPSS Delegate, represents the ICRC as part of a consortium Community Mental Health Centre programme.
  • Closely collaborates with consortium partners and attends technical and operational committee meetings
  • Develops a strong network of MHPSS service providers and create links and partnerships with CMHC where possible and appropriate.
  • Assists in developing and facilitating information and awareness-raising sessions/events.
  • Assists in developing protocols for CMHC.
  • Works as part of a multidisciplinary community mental health team or field team to provide psychological support services.
  • Conducts structured clinical assessments upon admission of new patients, includes use of standardised assessment tools and clear case formulation.
  • Develops consistent treatment plan with clear objectives for patients identified with MHPSS needs according to severity score of scales and clinical observation.
  • Provides individual/family/group mental health care through (brief to mid) supportive psychotherapy according to the patient treatment plan.
  • Observes, evaluates and monitors the evolution of the patients’ progress through regular meetings adapting treatment plan accordingly.
  • Develops, facilitates and implements information, sensitization and capacity building MHPSS sessions at PHCC or other entities as required.
  • Participates in developing competencies of CMHC staff if required.
  • Provides clinical and/or programmatic support to other MHPSS programmes in various locations in Lebanon when required.
  • Ensures necessary administrative work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Manages MHPSS database and contribute to timely reporting as required, including minutes of meetings, field trip reports, quarterly technical reports.
  • Actively participates in stakeholder mapping, networking, and internal/external meetings.
  • Responsible for organizing field trips and liaises and following ICRC procedures.

Certifications/Education Required:

  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology.
  • Qualification related to public health is an asset.
  • Excellent command of Arabic and English.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suites, statistical analysis skills (Excel, SPSS, STATA..)

Professional Experience Required:

  • 2-5 years clinical experience using evidence-based approaches.
  • Good knowledge of the assigned geographical area.
  • Knowledge and experience in public health.
  • Experience leading education and training sessions.
  • Previous experience in MHPSS programmes and community based mental health.
  • NGO experience is an asset.
  • Ability to provide structured clinical assessments and clear case formulation.
  • Ability to use standardized assessment tools.  
  • Skilled in at least one evidenced-based psychotherapy approach.
  • Ability to use a biopsychosocial model of care.
