Psycho-social Support (PSS)

Project funded by Federal Republic of Germany Foreign Office. 
An important component of the Peace Building Programme is the additional support services RET Liban offers to youth refugees and vulnerable Lebanese in Hermel, Baalbeck, and Tripoli.Refugees and underprivileged Lebanese struggle with added pressures and thus higher need for psycho-social support (PSS) is required. To address these needs, access to psycho-social support is one of the main pillars of the programme. RET Liban aims to build on existing services and to reinforce their capacity (where necessary) in PSS.  The PSS Expert/Consultant/ Organization / University or Company etc., will undertake a range of activities to enhance the capacity of the PSS Social Workers and develop a referral system to support 180 youth between 12-25 and 180 parents.

Purpose assignment

To create and implement part of the PSS activities in 2019,  RET Liban is looking for a certified PSS consultant/organization/ private company who can deliver the following activities:

• Recruit 6 PSS Social workers, two for each area (Baalbek – Hermel – Tripoli)
• Develop PSS training materials
• Deliver one training, for two days in Beirut- RET Liban office on PSS TOT, identification and referral, the trainings will be provided to PSS Social Workers and RET field staff.
• 4 days / 2 PSS sessions per day provided to 180 youth by PSS Workers
• 4 days / 2 PSS sessions per day provided to 180 youth by PSS Workers
• PSS sessions should allow beneficiaries to reconnect to their emotions and experience positive and stable states.
• Each session will be delivered for 15 youth or parent
• Field visits to monitor training done by PSS Social workers in three areas.
• Providing 300 youth and their families members with individual PSS as needed.
• Establish a strong referral system with community based national and international Organizations to facilitate access of participants to existing support services.
• Report on activities and outcomes
• Minimum 3 years of experience

Outcomes:

The main outcomes will be:

• 6 PSS social workers, two for each of the targeted areas (Hermel, Baalback, and Tripoli)
• PSS Training Materials (Curriculum) + Pre-Post evaluation + Evaluation + individual PSS form.
• PSS referral system
• Enhanced capacity of PSS social workers and RET staff in regards to PSS awareness and identification
• Progress report on training outcomes including lessons learned and recommendations.
• Final Report

 Time Frame

The activities will take place starting Mid-April till July 2019; the consultant total numbers of working days envisioned for the assignment are around 30 working days. 

The PSS Social Workers have around 16 working days.
