WASH Field Officer

Responsibilities:

- Implement and supervise water supply and basic sanitation in informal settlements.

- Follow up installation of water tanks and latrines in different sites.

- Work closely with local partners/ authorities.

- Provide technical advice and WaSH orientation to the rightholders.

- Monitor water-trucking and desludging delivery (volume, quantity, system of delivery to the rightholders).  

- Monitor water quality and chlorination (chemical and bacteriological) at different water points (water tanks, wells, city network, household).

- Document and report any discrepency/anomality as well as repairs needed in the water system, and material/tools needed for the program activities.

- Monitor the distributions of hygiene kits, water filters and water desinfection tablets.

- Monitor NFI (Non-Food-Items) distribution, working closely with local partners.

- Collect beneficiary lists from local partners after distributions.

- Document and report any discrepency / anomality that happened during the distribution and suggest possible improvments of the activities.

- Data Collection and Sensitization campaigns.

- Ensure understanding of the water and sanitation related needs and usages of the communities, and coordinate them with the WaSH team and partners to better meet them.

-Collect datarelated to the project and potential beneficiaries. 

- Conduct community mobilization and sensitization.

-Report regularly as needed to his direct manager. 

- Record and check datas.

-Participate in assessments of public networks of water and sanitation, including discussions with different stakeholders, mainly landlords, beneficiaries and Municipalities

- Follow up installation/ construction of water networks, Sanitation Systems at different sites working closely with the local authorities and right holders.

-Respect the security rules specified in the mission and base security plan.  

- Communicate to the security managers of the working location any security related information or non-compliance with the security plan.

-Support in emergency interventions and plans.

-Support any activity that helps achieving humanitarian goals.

- Promote gender equality within the humanitarian and/or development work.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge in plumbing, water supply and water sanitation system
  • Experience in similar position or any WaSH related experience 
  • Experience in community mobilization
  • Initiative, availability/capacity to learn
  • Ability to work in a team, interpersonal skills
  • Organized and rigorous
  • Excellent Arabic and good English 
  • Computer skills : Microsoft Office
  • Flexible with respect to work priorities
